ReviewArthroscopic assisted treatment of distal radius fractures and concomitant injuries.
Wrist arthroscopy is mainly used to assist fracture reduction and fixation and to diagnose and treat concomitant injuries mainly to the scapholunate (SL), lunotriquetral (LT) ligament and the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC). Arthroscopy is beneficial in improving anatomical reduction of fracture steps and gaps in intra-articular distal radius fractures (DRFs). ⋯ Non-surgical treatment and immobilization is recommended for Geissler grade I-III Sl-ligament injuries, while open reduction, ligament suture and/or K-wire pinning is mandatory for complete ligament tears according to Geissler grade IV. This manuscript describes the current literature and gives insight into the authors' opinions and practice.

Review Case ReportsExternal iliac artery thrombosis following open reduction of acetabular fracture: a case report and literature review.
Postoperative thrombosis of the external iliac artery (EIA) following open reduction and internal fixation for acetabular fracture is extremely rare. ⋯ It is very important for surgeons to consider EIA thrombosis as a potential complication following open reduction and internal fixation. In this case, EIA thrombosis could be explained by preoperative atherosclerotic changes and intraoperative vascular handling procedures. Preoperative screening and management, and meticulous surgical procedures are necessary for patients with a high risk of thrombosis.

ReviewThe relationship of the acromion to the distal clavicle in normal and symptomatic degenerated acromioclavicular joints.
Although degenerative osteoarthritis of the acromioclavicular joint is a common finding on technical investigations, not every patient experiences pain or function loss. The difference between symptomatic and asymptomatic patients is currently not elucidated. Therefore, we want to investigate the acromioclavicular relationship in normal, asymptomatic, and symptomatic degenerated ACJ. ⋯ In patients with degenerative ACJ, both the distal clavicle and acromion are enlarged. In asymptomatic patients, the AC relationship is the same as in normal patients, in contrast, in patients with symptomatic degenerative ACJ, the acromion is subluxated anteriorly compared to the clavicle.

Pre-operative planning in THA. Part III: do implant size prediction and offset restoration influence functional outcomes after THA?
Few studies evaluated clinical benefits of pre-operative templating in total hip arthroplasty (THA). We investigated whether mismatch between planned and real implant sizes and medio-lateral offsets compromises THA outcomes. ⋯ The FJS and OHS were not influenced by mismatch of component sizes nor of FO and GO. The FJS was better when the post-operative AO was greater than planned (p = 0.050). The FJS differed among arthritic types (p = 0.015). Multivariable analyses confirmed that older patients had better OHS (beta - 0.16; p = 0.033) and FJS (beta 0.74; p = 0.002), medialized hips had worse FJS (beta - 20.1; p = 0.041) and hips with greater AO than planned had better FJS (beta 1.71; p = 0.024) CONCLUSIONS: Implanting a component of different size than planned did not compromise THA outcomes, but medialized hips had worse scores, and conservative acetabular reaming improved scores.
