Early complications and causes of revision after rotating-hinge TKA.
The use of rotating-hinge total knee arthroplasties (TKA), despite several developments in prosthetic design, remains controversial. Results as well as indications of these devices are still discussed in primary intention and for young patients. The aim was to analyze early complications and survival rate of rotating-hinge TKA in primary intention and for revisions. ⋯ This rotating-hinge TKA provides satisfying clinical and functional outcomes in primary intentions and in revision cases. There was no implant-associated complication. The complication rate remains high for revision surgery cases, mostly due to previous joint infections and poor soft tissue quality causing extensor mechanism failure. A longer-term study should be conducted to confirm this trend.

Long-term migration characteristics of the Corail hydroxyapatite-coated femoral stem: a 14-year radiostereometric analysis follow-up study.
The magnitude and pattern of acceptable long-term migration of cementless femoral stems are not well understood. The Corail hydroxyapatite-coated cementless stem is a clinically successful and commonly used femoral stem with a long-term migration pattern not previously described in the literature. The aim of this study was to assess the long-term migration of the Corail hydroxyapatite-coated cementless stem using radiostereometric analysis (RSA) at 14-year follow-up, thereby establishing a benchmark acceptable long-term migration pattern for hydroxyapatite-coated cementless prostheses. ⋯ II.

No effect of platelet-rich plasma as adjuvant to bone marrow stimulation for the treatment of chondral defects in a large animal model.
Bone marrow stimulation (BMS) remains a dominant treatment strategy for symptomatic full thickness articular cartilage defects. Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP), may improve biological cartilage repair as an adjunct to BMS. ⋯ Four repeated local injections of leukocyte-rich PRP after BMS in the treatment of full-thickness cartilage injuries demonstrated no beneficial effects in terms of macroscopic and histological cartilage repair tissue quality.

Non-vascularized partial joint transfer for Finger Proximal Interphalangeal joint reconstruction: a series of 9 patients.
Finger proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) reconstruction after the destruction of parts of the joint remains challenging. Surgical techniques include implant arthroplasty, arthrodesis, free vascularized joint transfer, and non-vascularized bone and joint transfer. This study analyzes our experience after non-vascularized transfer in terms of range of motion, postoperative rehabilitation, and patient satisfaction. ⋯ In this study, non-vascularized partial joint transfer provides a mobile and stable PIP joint 4 years after reconstruction. The surgical technique presented herein is complex depending on additional injuries but results in great patient satisfaction.

Correlation between radiographic findings and clinical failure in monopolar radial head replacement.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the mid-term outcomes of a modular monopolar type of radial head arthroplasty in the treatment of complex fractures associated with acute elbow joint instability. We postulated that radiographic changes are related to the development of clinical complications. ⋯ Our study shows a positive association between radiographic findings and patient symptoms for postoperative complications after radial head arthroplasty. Failed radial head replacements may lead to reoperation mainly due to pain, and this can be distinguished from other causes of pain in elbow region based on its radial location. Radiological loosening was prevalent in this group of failed replacement.
