Multi-segmental lumbar spinal stenosis treated with Dynesys stabilization versus lumbar fusion in elderly patients: a retrospective study with a minimum of 5 years' follow-up.
Middle- and long-term outcomes of multi-segmental lumbar spinal stenosis treated with Dynesys stabilization (DS) have rarely been reported. Older age and multi-segmental degeneration may be positive factors in achieving satisfactory outcomes following DS. The present study aimed to compare the middle- and long-term outcomes of DS with lumbar fusion for treatment of multi-segmental lumbar spinal stenosis (ms-LSS) in elderly patients. ⋯ DS is a safe and effective surgical treatment of multi-segmental lumbar spinal stenosis in the elderly population. DS preserves a certain degree of mobility of surgical segments.

Outcome of arthroscopy-assisted treatment for distal clavicle fractures.
The purpose of the present study was described as the arthroscopically assisted procedure that uses a synthetic conoid ligament reconstruction using Zip Tight (Zimmer biomet, Warsaw, USA) and fracture-site fixation with K-wire. Our hypothesis was that this technique provided a satisfactory functional outcome with minimum complication. ⋯ IV, Case series, Treatment study.

How can the articular surface of the tibial plateau be best exposed? A comparison of specific surgical approaches.
The correct choice of a fracture-specific surgical approach with an articular accessibility in complex tibial plateau fractures to facilitate durable fracture fixation of the anatomic articular reconstruction is under debate, as the most important risk factor for malreduction in complex tibial plateau fractures is an impaired visualization of the articular surface. ⋯ Level IV.

Review Meta AnalysisBetter outcomes with patellar resurfacing during primary total knee arthroplasty: a meta-analysis study.
Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a feasible and cost-effective procedure. However, resurfacing of the patella sparks a heated debate. Anterior knee pain after TKA was supposed to be correlated to the patellofemoral joint, and the resurface of the patella was believed to be effective to avoid this complication. ⋯ Level II, meta-analysis of prospective clinical trials.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of the use of evaporative coolants and ice packs for the management of preoperative edema and pain in ankle fractures: a prospective randomized controlled trial.
The use of evaporative coolants in the management of acute musculoskeletal injury has received increasing attention recently. However, its efficacy compared with conventional cryotherapy in treating injured human subjects remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of evaporative coolants with that of ice packs in preoperative management of edema and pain in patients with an ankle fracture. ⋯ Level I, prospective randomized study.
