Dorsal transosseous reduction and locking plate fixation for articular depressed middle phalangeal base fracture.
An articular depressed fragment at the base of the middle phalanx can be an obstacle to congruent reduction and stable fixation. This study assessed the outcomes of a transosseous reduction technique combined with locking plate fixation for the treatment of articular depressed middle phalangeal base fracture. ⋯ Therapeutic, level IV.

Fixation of a modular curved revision stem with a taper of 2° in the femur.
Modular revision stems with a short distal component can prevent the bypassing of the femoral isthmus and hereby theoretically have advantages concerning risk of periprosthetic fractures, breakage of the junction and a technically easier revision procedure. ⋯ The use of combinations of short modular components leads to reproducibly good outcomes in femoral revision with respect to subsidence and loosening.

The hamstring/quadriceps ratio is an indicator of function in ACL-deficient, but not in ACL-reconstructed knees.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the isokinetic, eccentric and isometric hamstring/quadriceps (HQ) ratios in patients before and after ACL reconstruction (ACLR) using bone-patellar tendon grafts and to establish the relationships between HQ ratio and knee function. ⋯ Level IV, case series.

No influence of patellar fixation technique on clinical outcomes of double-bundle medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction: a systematic review.
To compare clinical outcomes of double-bundle medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction with different patellar fixation techniques including Kujala score, functional failure and complications. ⋯ Patellar fixation with bone tunnel, suture anchor or suture techniques were all effective in the double-bundle MPFL reconstruction. The present systematic review failed to show that one technique was better than the others. More high-quality trials and randomized controlled trials are needed.

Case ReportsA complete posterior tibial stress fracture that occurred during a middle-distance running race: a case report.
Posterior tibial stress fractures are more frequent than anterior tibial stress fractures, and they are considered to have a good prognosis for returning to sports; cases leading to a complete fracture are rare. A 17-year-old male involved in high school athletics middle-distance running had a 3-week history of pain with training. He was running up to 300 km/week on streets and cross-country in an even distribution. ⋯ He could resume middle-distance racing after 1 year. Posterior tibial cortical fractures are more common and respond better to conservative treatment than anterior tibial stress fractures, and they are a common fracture type in runners. We believe that close, careful follow-up is necessary if patients continue excessive training.
