Increased medial and lateral tibial posterior slopes are independent risk factors for graft failure following ACL reconstruction.
To analyze the contribution of increased lateral (LTPS) and medial tibial slopes (MTPS) as independent risk factors of graft failure following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. ⋯ Increased LTPS and MTPS are independent risk factors for graft failure following ACL reconstruction regardless whether tunnel position is anatomic or non-anatomic. This information may be helpful to clinicians when considering slope correction in selected revision ACL reconstruction procedures.

Reverse shoulder arthroplasty: the role of physical therapy on the clinical outcome in the mid-term to long-term follow-up.
Reverse shoulder arthroplasty shifts the rotational center of the shoulder joint caudally and medially to restore shoulder function in a rotator cuff deficient shoulder. Despite promising results in early- and mid-term follow-up, long-term loss in shoulder function has been described in the literature. A lack of exercise in elderly patients may be one reason for this loss in function. This study examines the functional benefits of physical therapy in the mid-term to long-term follow-up regarding the subjective and objective shoulder function. ⋯ Level III.

Comparative StudyComparison of two-stage revision arthroplasty and intramedullary arthrodesis in patients with failed infected knee arthroplasty.
Failed total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with significant bone loss and compromised soft-tissues is challenging and the final results are often inferior to patient's expectation. The objective of this study was to present a comparison of outcomes in patients with failed infected TKA treated with two-stage revision TKA or knee arthrodesis and to assess clinical and functional results, implant survival and infection recurrence. The hypothesis was that an arthrodesis may result in beneficial effects on patients' outcome. ⋯ Level III, retrospective cohort study.

Review Meta AnalysisThe efficacy and safety of knotless barbed sutures in total joint arthroplasty: a meta-analysis of randomized-controlled trials.
The knotless barbed sutures (KBS) are an innovative type of suture that can accelerate the placement of sutures and eliminate knot tying. Whether the KBS are safe and efficient in total joint arthroplasty (TJA) remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate its efficacy and safety. ⋯ Our findings suggest that KBS are a safe and effective method for TJA. Given the possible biases, adequately powered and better designed studies with longer follow-up are required to reach a firmer conclusion.

Meta AnalysisIneffectiveness of lateral-wedge insoles on the improvement of pain and function for medial knee osteoarthritis: a meta-analysis of controlled randomized trials.
The study aimed to evaluate the role of lateral-wedge insoles in pain reduction and functional improvement among patients with medial knee osteoarthritis. ⋯ Though for young Asian patients within normal BMI, to some extent, the lateral-wedge insoles seems to be helpful. However, there was no evidence to demonstrate the relationship between race and role of lateral-wedge insoles on pain reduction. All in all, based on current data, lateral-wedge insoles appear to be ineffective at attenuating knee pain and function improvement.
