Patella tracking and patella contact pressure in modular patellofemoral arthroplasty: a biomechanical in vitro analysis.
In the recent years modular partial knee prosthesis with the opportunity to combine unicompartmental tibiofemoral (UKA) and patellofemoral prosthesis (PFJ) were introduced to the clinics. To date, little is known about the biomechanics of these bi-cruciate retaining prosthetic designs. Aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of a PFJ in bicompartmental arthroplasty (UKA + PFJ) on patella tracking and retropatella pressure distribution. ⋯ When using PFJ prosthesis, one must be aware of altered pressure introduction on the retropatella surface compared to the physiological situation. The elevated peak pressures and reduced contact area may be an argument for patella resurfacing and the problems of edge loading indicate that care must be taken on the correct implantation of the device with no implant overhang.

International survey and surgeon's preferences in diagnostic work-up towards treatment of anterior shoulder instability.
Recurrent anterior shoulder instability after surgical treatment can be caused by bony defects. Several diagnostic tools have been designed to measure the extent of these bony lesions. Currently, there is no consensus which measurement tool to use and decide which type of surgery is most appropriate. We therefore performed an evaluation of agreement in surgeons' preference of diagnostic work-up and surgical treatment of anterior shoulder instability. ⋯ Survey, level of evidence IV.

Randomized Controlled TrialPain in donor site after BTB-ACL reconstruction with PRGF: a randomized trial.
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears are highly incident injuries in young athletes within our work area. The use of the patellar graft, despite being the treatment of choice, presents post-operative problems such as anterior knee pain, which limits its use and leads to preference being taken for alternative grafts. Our aim was to evaluate if the application of PRGF reduces anterior knee pain in donor site in BTB-ACL reconstruction. ⋯ The application of PRGF decreased donor site pain compared to the control group.

ReviewDoes surgical reconstruction produce better stability than conservative treatment in the isolated PCL injuries?
The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review to address the stability outcome from reconstruction and conservative treatments. ⋯ This systematic review noted more satisfactory and consistent stability in the reconstructive treatment group. However, more complications and small differences of stability between groups should be also considered.

Multicenter StudyCharacteristics and associated factors of Klee cartilage lesions: preliminary baseline-data of more than 1000 patients from the German cartilage registry (KnorpelRegister DGOU).
Knee cartilage lesions are very frequent in arthroscopic surgery. This multi-center-study was aimed to evaluate the distribution and possible associated factors of these pathologies in more than 1000 patients. ⋯ Our results are in confirmation with other multicenter studies. But these former studies did not differentiate into traumatic and degenerative lesions. Furthermore no characteristics were given regarding to single, kissing or complex lesions. Thus this database will be a sufficient instrument for the investigation of the "natural course" of cartilage lesions, but above all about the effectiveness of different treatment options.
