A novel method to measure femoral component migration by computed tomography: a cadaver study.
Radiostereometric analysis (RSA) is the most accurate technique to measure implant migration. However, it requires special equipment, technical expertise and analysis software and has not gained wide acceptance. The current paper analyzes a novel method to measure implant migration utilizing widely available computer tomography (CT). ⋯ CT based measurement of head displacement in a cadaver model were highly accurate and reproducible.

Clinical tests and magnetic resonance imaging have limited diagnostic value for triangular fibrocartilaginous complex lesions.
The diagnostic value of clinical tests and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for the investigation of triangular fibrocartilaginous complex (TFCC) lesions is not clear due to a lack of clinical data. ⋯ According to this study, clinical tests and MR imaging findings are of very limited diagnostic value for the diagnosis of TFCC lesions.

Real-time elastography of patellar tendon in patients with auto-graft bone-tendon-bone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
Patellar tendon donor site has been previously evaluated in patients with auto-graft bone-tendon-bone (BTB) anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using either magnetic resonance imaging or B mode ultrasound. However, donor site patellar tendon strain ratio-reflecting structural features-has not been studied with US elastography. Here, we ascertain real-time elastography properties of patellar tendon donor site and clinical relevance of these properties in patients with auto-graft BTB ACL reconstruction in the postoperative period. ⋯ Patellar tendons on the operated sides seemed to thicken and shorten with decreased strain ratios at the donor side compared to the healthy side at an average of 2-year follow-up in patients with ACL reconstruction using BTB autograft, and amount of smoking had negative relationship with strain ratio of donor patellar tendon.

Prevention of cement leakage into the hip joint by a standard cement plug during PFN-A cement augmentation: a technical note.
Medial penetration of the helical blade into the hip joint after fixation of trochanteric fractures using the proximal femur nail antirotation (PFN-A) is a potential failure mode. In low demand patients a blade exchange with cement augmentation may be an option if conversion to total hip arthroplasty is unfeasible to salvage the cut-through. This article describes a technique to avoid intraarticular cement leakage using a cement plug to close the defect in the femoral head caused by the cut-through.

Predictors for satisfaction after anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty for idiopathic glenohumeral osteoarthritis.
The use of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) to treat primary glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GHOA) is increasing. Factors influencing patient satisfaction after surgery have not been well documented. The aim of this study was to determine demographic, radiologic, and surgical, factors predictive for satisfaction after TSA for GHOA. ⋯ III, Therapeutic study, Retrospective Cohort Study.
