Case ReportsA rare case of a punched nerve syndrome of the deep motor branch of the ulnar nerve.
Peripheral compression neuropathy of the ulnar nerve is a frequent condition, most likely encountered at the ulnar sulcus or the Guyon's canal. High-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) can often identify the site of injury. Primarily idiopathic, compression neuropathy can stem from a punched nerve syndrome, in which direct contact between an arterial branch and the nerve leads to compression. ⋯ HRUS is a viable method to demonstrate a punched nerve syndrome. In conjunction with clinical presentation, even unlikely sites of compression such as the deep motor branch of the ulnar nerve can be identified.

Fracture reduction with positive medial cortical support: a key element in stability reconstruction for the unstable pertrochanteric hip fractures.
To introduce the concept of fracture reduction with positive medial cortical support and its clinical and radiological correlation in geriatric unstable pertrochanteric fractures. ⋯ Fracture reduction with nonanatomic positive medial cortical support allows limited sliding of the head-neck fragment to contact with the femur shaft and achieve secondary stability, providing a good mechanical environment for fracture healing.

Redisplacement after reduction with intramedullary nails in surgery of intertrochanteric fracture: cause analysis and preventive measures.
During the implantation of intramedullary nail in surgery of intertrochanteric fracture, the fact that the originally satisfactory reduction may incur redisplacement remains a major concern. In this article, we will analyze the reasons of redisplacement and describe some methods that can improve the quality of reduction. ⋯ When reduction is achieved in the surgery of intertrochanteric fracture, surgeons tend to overlook the occurrence of redisplacement, or not to treat it that has emerged timely. Internal fixation in nonanatomic reduction may increase the likelihood of fixation failure postoperatively. For the importance of accurate reduction of the fracture, once redisplacement occurs during the surgery, some methods or tricks are applicable to it to restore the anatomic reduction.

In vitro kinematics of fixed versus mobile bearing in unicondylar knee arthroplasty.
When performing unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA), the surgeon can choose between two fundamentally different designs: a mobile-bearing (MB) inlay with high conformity, or a low-conformity, fixed bearing (FB) inlay. There is an ongoing debate in the orthopaedic community about which design is superior. To date, there have been no comparative biomechanical studies regarding each system's effects on the quadriceps force and the medial contact pressure. The purpose of this study was to investigate these alterations in vitro before and after UKA with two prosthesis systems, representing the MB and FB designs. ⋯ The MB design showed significantly increased quadriceps extension force compared with the FB inlay in deep flexion. Although the FB design showed higher maximum peak pressures concentrated on a smaller area, the pressure introduction in deep flexion was lower, compared to MB inserts.

Relationship between femoral tunnel location and graft bending angle in outside-in and transportal technique for ACL double bundle reconstruction in 3D-CT study.
In anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, sharp angulation of the graft at tunnel aperture increases local strain to the graft. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between femoral tunnel location and femoral graft bending angle after ACL double bundle reconstruction (ACL-DBR) with two different drilling techniques. ⋯ Since the femoral tunnel exit in outside-in technique was located more anterior and proximal, femoral graft bending angle of AMB in outside-in technique was greater than that in transportal technique. Anterior position of the femoral tunnel exit in AMB increased femoral graft bending angle in outside-in and transportal techniques.
