A novel surgical technique for revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using an isolated rectus femoris tendon autograft.
Only a few anatomic studies have described an isolated rectus femoris tendon autograft for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. This study aims to demonstrate a new surgical technique utilising the rectus femoris tendon for ACL reconstruction. This study hypothesises that the rectus tendon autograft will yield satisfying postoperative outcomes in terms of stability, with minimal complications at the harvest site. ⋯ Case series; Level of evidence, IV.

Minimally invasive hallux valgus surgery using 3D printed patient specific instrumentation.
In this technical report study, we describe technique for performing the osteotomy and screw passage in minimally invasive fourth-generation hallux valgus surgery with transverse and akin extra-articular metaphyseal osteotomy (META) using a 3D-printed patient-specific surgical instrumentation guide. In an effort to minimize the learning curve and address the variability associated with technical corrections and screw placement, we have initiated the creation of personalized patient-specific instrumentation guides using 3D printing. Our hypothesis is that this approach will enhance safety, precision, decrease surgical time, and reduce exposure to radiation. Level of Evidence: Level V, expert opinion.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudySystematic review and meta-analysis of studies comparing cyst wall preservation against cyst wall resection during arthroscopic popliteal cyst decompression.
The optimal arthroscopic management for popliteal cyst decompression remains uncertain, with ongoing debate between preserving the cyst wall or completely removing it. The purpose of this study is to compare the outcomes and complications of arthroscopic popliteal cyst decompression with cyst wall preservation and cyst wall resection. ⋯ During arthroscopic popliteal cyst decompression, cyst wall resection led to longer operative times and higher complication rates but lower recurrence rates and better MRI outcomes. The functional outcomes after surgery were found to be similar.

ReviewCurrent research trends on the effect of diabetes mellitus on rotator cuff tendon healing/tendinopathy.
Rotator cuff tendon tears are a leading cause of shoulder pain. They are challenging to treat, and tendon-bone healing has a high failure rate despite successful surgery. Tendons connect the muscles and bones, which make them important for the body's overall mobility and stability. ⋯ This review summarizes the current literature on the pathophysiological changes of the tendon in diabetes and hyperlipidemia. Preclinical and clinical evidence regarding the association between diabetes and tendon healing is presented. Moreover, current approaches to improve tendon healing in patients with diabetes are reviewed.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of virtual reality and computed tomography in the preoperative planning of complex tibial plateau fractures.
Preoperative planning is a critical step in the success of any complex surgery. The pur-pose of this study is to evaluate the advantage of VR glasses in surgical planning of complex tibial plateau fractures compared to CT planning. ⋯ The use of virtual reality for surgical planning of complex tibial plateau fractures resulted in significantly shorter planned operative time, while planning time was longer compared to CT planning. After VR planning, more surgeons felt (very) well prepared for surgery.
