Case ReportsConcomitant multiple closed contiguous physeal injuries in a limb with an undescribed 'distractional-separation' type with vascular compromise: a report of two cases.
Though physeal injuries are common in children, concomitant multiple closed contiguous physeal injuries in a limb along with vascular compromise are rare. An associated distractional-separation type of physeal injury is being documented for the first time. We present here two such cases. ⋯ Although, the limb in our cases could not be salvaged, these reports describe these unusual injury patterns for the first time and re-emphasize the awareness of urgent recognition of the associated vascular insult.

Characteristics and outcome of infections associated with tumor endoprostheses.
Infection associated with prosthesis used after tumor resection is a common and serious complication. The purpose of the current retrospective study was to describe the course of infection in patients with a tumor endoprosthesis and the determination of risk factors associated with failed limb salvage. ⋯ Infection associated with prosthesis is a serious complication and is involved with long hospitalization. Limb salvage failed mostly in the case of a poor soft tissue condition. In these cases repeated revision surgery should be avoided and ablative surgery recommended at an early stage. Rotationplasty is an alternative to amputation in the case of an infection of the proximal or distal part of the femur.

Multicenter StudyPosttraumatic anterior-inferior instability of the shoulder: arthroscopic findings and clinical correlations.
The main purpose of our study was to evaluate intra-articular lesions in glenohumeral-instability with arthroscopy and correlate them with clinical findings as well as history of instability. ⋯ Thus we conclude that early surgical stabilization after posttraumatic anterior-inferior shoulder dislocation is necessary to prevent increasing damage within the shoulder joint.

Fractured neck of femur in elderly is associated with mortality which is reported in literature to vary between 20 and 40%. One of the factors which is suggested to be a risk factor is male sex. We reviewed 83 male necks of femur patients admitted over a period of a year to assess the patient's physical status, influence of co-morbidities, postoperative course and mortality. ⋯ Increasing age, high ASA category and post-operative chest infections were associated with high peri-operative mortality, and fall sustained in an acute hospital ward was associated with high 1-year mortality in addition to ASA grade and chest infection. Patients who had a chest infection in the post-operative period had in-hospital mortality of 46.2% (P value 0.006) and a 1-year mortality of 73.1% (P value 0.001). Patients who fell in the ward as inpatients under geriatric care had 60% mortality.

Case ReportsGlenohumeral interposition of a torn rotator cuff in a young motorcyclist.
This report describes the rare case of a traumatic rotator cuff tear in a young patient which led to a pseudo-paralyzed shoulder by interposition of the tendon stump into the glenohumeral joint. The patient underwent an open rotator cuff repair and regained an almost normal shoulder function after 12 weeks. A review of the literature is presented.
