Case ReportsType 4 median nerve entrapment in a child after elbow dislocation.
CASE STUDIED: Median nerve entrapment is a rare, serious complication of elbow dislocation. We report a Type 4 median nerve entrapment after elbow dislocation in a 10-year-old boy. Radiologically Matev's sign and a new radiological finding-a sclerotic tunnel at the lateral side of the olecranon-were seen. ⋯ The patient was treated by excising the damaged segment and reanastomosing the nerve 13 months after the injury.

Surgical treatment of displaced stress fractures of the femoral neck in military recruits: a report of 42 cases.
Stress fracture of the femoral neck (SFFN) is one of the severe complications of military training. Displaced SFFN may result in avascular necrosis of the femoral head (AVNFH). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of surgical treatment of the displaced SFFN. ⋯ Delayed treatment and postoperative varus alignment were major factors contributing to AVNFH in our series. Early treatment and anatomical fixation of displaced SFFN are essential for diminishing the risk of AVNFH development.

Posttraumatic contracture of elbow treated with intraarticular technique.
Posttraumatic contracture of the elbow (either flexion or extension) is sometimes very disabling. However, an absolutely convincing surgical technique has not yet been defined in the literature. We developed an intraarticular technique to concomitantly treat both intraarticular and extraarticular lesions with one posterior incision. ⋯ Compared with other techniques, we recommend this one due to its high satisfactory rate and low complication rate.

Shortening of the patellar tendon length does not influence the patellofemoral alignment in a cadaveric model.
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with the use of autograft tissue represents the standard treatment. The use of a bone-patellar tendon-bone transplant for symptomatic ACL deficiency achieves good long-term results. The purpose of the study was to investigate in a cadaveric model whether reproducible patellar tendon shortening changes the patellofemoral alignment. ⋯ Although anterior cruciate ligament-reconstruction using the patellar tendon has become a standard procedure, postoperative problems such as anterior knee pain, and patellofemoral osteoarthritis occur quite often. In this cadaver study we did not find a significant difference for the patellofemoral alignment, irrespective of the patellar tendon length.

Repair of neglected Achilles tendon rupture using gastrocnemius fascial flaps.
Neglected Achilles tendon rupture is a rare disorder. In this article, we discuss the results of 10 patients with neglected Achilles tendon ruptures who were treated surgically. ⋯ Our data indicate that the reconstructive technique using gastrocnemius fascial flaps can result in an excellent clinical and functional outcome.
