Intrapartum epidural analgesia and ST analysis of the fetal electrocardiogram.
To evaluate the influence of intrapartum epidural analgesia on the occurrence of ST events of the fetal ECG. ⋯ Epidural analgesia has no effect on the numbers or types of ST events when using ST analysis of the fetal ECG.

ReviewLikelihood ratios for the prediction of preterm delivery with biomarkers.
To conduct a literature search for selected biomarkers on preterm delivery and estimate their likelihood ratios (LR). ⋯ Several biomarkers have been identified for assessment of risk of preterm delivery. Their clinical relevance depends on the efficacy of the interventions which can be offered to these patients.

Comparative StudyScalp blood lactate for intra-partum assessment of fetal metabolic acidosis.
To study to what extent the fetal scalp blood lactate concentration during labor correlates with fetal scalp pH and base deficit, and metabolic acidosis at birth, and to suggest lactate cut-off values to serve as indicators for either reassurance or immediate intervention. ⋯ In the case of a non-reassuring fetal heart rate, fetal scalp blood lactate provides more accurate information on fetal acid-base status than does pH and/or BD.

Comparative StudyAntenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta leads to reduced blood loss.
Placenta accreta is one of the most devastating pregnancy complications. We sought to compare outcomes between women with placenta accreta when diagnosed antenatally or intrapartum, and to define predictors of the antenatal diagnosis. ⋯ Antenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta may reduce peripartum blood loss and the need for blood transfusion. Women with antenatal diagnosis more often have placenta previa and history of previous cesarean section, and the clinical diagnosis is more often placenta percreta.
