Transient ischemic attack after tissue plasminogen activator: aborted stroke or unnecessary stroke therapy?
The frequency with which intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke results in normal clinical and radiographic status is currently unknown. ⋯ Over 10% of patients who receive tPA for cerebral ischemia do not develop ischemic injury. tPA use for a nonischemic process is infrequent but is associated with community hospital use.

Cardiovascular risk and neuroradiological profiles in asymptomatic vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia.
Clinicoradiological variability of vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD) is known. Little is known about cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and neuroradiological profiles of asymptomatic VBD. ⋯ Asymptomatic VBD was detected in 1.3% of the Japanese PC group. Our data indicated male predominance, multiple CVD risk factors, neurovascular hypertension and small infarcts in asymptomatic VBD.

Site of ruptured intracranial saccular aneurysms in patients in Izumo City, Japan.
A community-based study was conducted to estimate the site distribution of ruptured intracranial aneurysms and to evaluate clinical features related to aneurysm site. ⋯ The roughly estimated proportions of the sites of aneurysm rupture were 40% for the ACA, including ACoA and distal ACA, 25% for the ICA, 25% for the MCA, and 10% for the VBA. The clinical features showed significant differences according to aneurysm site.
