The effective connectivity of neuronal networks during passive saltatory pneumotactile velocity stimulation to the glabrous hand with different velocities is still unknown. The present study investigated the effectivity connectivity elicited by saltatory pneumotactile velocity arrays placed on the glabrous hand at three velocities (5, 25, and 65 cm/second). ⋯ Our DCM results suggest the coexistence of both serial and parallel processing for saltatory pneumotactile velocity stimulation. Significant contralateral M1 modulation promotes the prospect that the passive saltatory pneumotactile velocity arrays can be used to design sensorimotor rehabilitation protocols to activate M1. The effective connectivity from the right cerebellar lobule VI to other cortical regions demonstrates the cerebellum's role in the sensorimotor networks through feedforward and feedback neuronal pathways.

Brain tumors can result in displacement or destruction of important white matter tracts such as the inferior fronto-occipital fascicle (IFOF). Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) can assess the extent of this effect and potentially provide neurosurgeons with an accurate map to guide tumor resection; analyze IFOF displacement patterns in temporoinsular gliomas based on tumor grading and topography in the temporal lobe; and assess whether these patterns follow a predictable pattern, to assist in maximal tumor resection while preserving IFOF function. ⋯ IFOF displacement patterns are reproducible and suitable for temporoinsular gliomas presurgical planning.

Acute cerebral infarction in the basal ganglia is associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment, suggesting that cognitive networks might be involved in neural plasticity after ischemic stroke. This study was conducted to explore the abnormalities in functional and causal connectivity of the brain network in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in the basal ganglia. ⋯ Alterations of functional and causal connectivity among multiple brain regions suggest that patients with AIS in the basal ganglia have impairment of multifunctional networks in the whole brain.

Magnetic resonance elastography to study the effect of amyloid plaque accumulation in a mouse model.
Biomechanical changes in the brain have not been fully elucidated in Alzheimer's disease (AD). We aimed to investigate the effect of β-amyloid accumulation on mouse brain viscoelasticity. ⋯ Aging had region-specific effects on cerebral viscoelasticity, namely, WB softening and hippocampal stiffening. Amyloid plaque deposition may have sex-specific effects, which require further scrutiny.

The purpose is to provide a comprehensive report describing the clinical and imaging features of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related acute invasive fungal sinusitis (AIFS) and associated comorbidities. ⋯ Steroids, DM, and severe COVID-19 are the major risk factors of AIFS in the post-COVID-19 era. Imaging scans in all patients revealed different sinonasal, facial, orbital features, and intracranial involvement with rapid progression of the findings on follow-up scans.
