Comparative StudyTumor-liver contrast and subjective tumor conspicuity of respiratory-triggered T2-weighted fast spin-echo sequence compared with T2*-weighted gradient recalled-echo sequence for ferucarbotran-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of hepatic malignant tumors.
To compare respiratory-triggered T2-weighted fast spin-echo (RTT2W-FSE) and gradient T2*-weighted recalled-echo (T2*W-GRE) images for visualization of malignant hepatic tumors using ferucarbotran-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. ⋯ For ferucarbotran-enhanced MR imaging, compared to FSPGR images, RTT2W-FSE images provide greater TLC and subjective conspicuity for malignant tumors.

Temporal evolution of MR perfusion in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.
To illustrate the evolution of brain perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (PWI-MRI) in severe neonatal hypoxic-ischemic (HI) encephalopathy, and its possible relation to further neurodevelopmental outcome. ⋯ PWI in HI encephalopathy did not have the same temporal evolution as DWI, and remained abnormal for more than one week after injury. This could be a marker of an ongoing mechanism underlying severe neonatal HI encephalopathy. Evolution of PWI might help to predict further neurodevelopmental outcome.

3D dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI of rectal carcinoma at 3T: correlation with microvascular density and vascular endothelial growth factor markers of tumor angiogenesis.
To determine how dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI at 3T correlates with rectal carcinoma angiogenesis. ⋯ DCE MRI parameters help predict rectal tumor angiogenesis measured by MVD and VEGF expression and discriminate malignant from normal tissue.

Evaluation of optimized inversion-recovery fat-suppression techniques for T2-weighted abdominal MR imaging.
To test the theoretical benefits of a spectral attenuated inversion-recovery (SPAIR) fat-suppression (FS) technique in clinical abdominal MRI by comparison to conventional inversion-recovery (IR) FS combined with T2-weighted (T2W) partial Fourier single shot fast spin echo (SSFSE). ⋯ The theoretical benefits of SPAIR over conventional IR FS translate into significant multiple improvements that can be measured on clinical abdominal MRI scans.

Comparative StudyEstimation of absolute myocardial blood flow during first-pass MR perfusion imaging using a dual-bolus injection technique: comparison to single-bolus injection method.
To compare the dual-bolus to single-bolus quantitative first-pass magnetic resonance myocardial perfusion imaging for estimation of absolute myocardial blood flow (MBF). ⋯ Both single-bolus and dual-bolus perfusion methods correlate closely with MBF but the signal and contrast of the dual-bolus images are greater. With smaller nontransmural ROIs where signal is reduced, the dual-bolus method appeared to provide slightly more accurate results.
