Controlled Clinical TrialSimultaneous changes of magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging and pathological microstructure in locally advanced cervical cancer caused by neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
To investigate the changes to diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) correlated with histopathology after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC). ⋯ The ADC change after successful chemotherapy is closely related with cellular characteristics preceding size reduction. ADC may be used as an early imaging biomarker of NACT response in LACC.

Multiple sclerosis lesion geometry in quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) and phase imaging.
To demonstrate the phase and quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) patterns created by solid and shell spatial distributions of magnetic susceptibility in multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions. ⋯ QSM accurately depicts both solid and shell patterns of magnetic susceptibility, while phase imaging fails to distinguish them.

ReviewSusceptibility-weighted imaging and quantitative susceptibility mapping in the brain.
Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that enhances image contrast by using the susceptibility differences between tissues. It is created by combining both magnitude and phase in the gradient echo data. SWI is sensitive to both paramagnetic and diamagnetic substances which generate different phase shift in MRI data. ⋯ This limitation is currently being addressed with the development of quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) and susceptibility tensor imaging (STI). While QSM treats susceptibility as isotropic, STI treats susceptibility as generally anisotropic characterized by a tensor quantity. This article reviews the basic principles of SWI, its clinical and research applications, the mechanisms governing brain susceptibility properties, and its practical implementation, with a focus on brain imaging.

Performance of perfusion-weighted Fourier decomposition MRI for detection of chronic pulmonary emboli.
To evaluate the test performance of perfusion-weighted Fourier-decomposition (pw-FD) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in comparison to dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI as a reference standard in patients with known or suspected chronic pulmonary embolism (PE). ⋯ Pw-FD of the lung is a feasible test to diagnose chronic PE on a per-patient level during free-breathing without the use of ionizing radiation or contrast agents.

Comparative StudyMRI-based staging of hepatic fibrosis: Comparison of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging with magnetic resonance elastography.
To evaluate the use of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging for staging hepatic fibrosis, and compare its staging ability with that of magnetic resonance elastography (MRE). ⋯ IVIM imaging is a useful technique for evaluating hepatic fibrosis, but MRE is better able to discriminate fibrosis stages than IVIM imaging.
