Evaluation of therapeutic response to concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with cervical cancer using diffusion-weighted MR imaging.
To investigate the changes in apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs) in cervical cancer patients receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT), and to assess the relationship between tumor ADCs or changes in tumor ADCs and final tumor responses to therapy. ⋯ DWI may have potentials in evaluating the therapeutic response to CCRT in patients with cervical cancer.

Multicenter StudyAutomatic quantification of subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue from whole-body magnetic resonance images suitable for large cohort studies.
To develop an automated method with which to distinguish metabolically different adipose tissues in a large number of subjects using whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) datasets for improving the understanding of chronic disease risk predictions associated with distinct adipose tissue compartments. ⋯ We developed a fully automatic process to assess SAT and VAT in whole-body MRI data. The method can support epidemiological studies investigating the relationship between excess body fat and chronic diseases.

Assessment of liver function in thioacetamide-induced rat acute liver injury using an empirical mathematical model and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI with Gd-EOB-DTPA.
To evaluate thioacetamide (TAA)-induced acute liver injury in rats using an empirical mathematical model (EMM) and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) with gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA). ⋯ The EMM is useful for evaluating TAA-induced acute liver injury using DCE-MRI with Gd-EOB-DTPA.

Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging: prediction of hepatic fibrosis stages using liver contrast enhancement index and liver-to-spleen volumetric ratio.
To develop and evaluate a quantitative parameter for staging hepatic fibrosis by contrast enhancement signal intensity and morphological measurements from gadoxetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced MR imaging. ⋯ The liver-to-spleen volumetric ratio and contrast enhancement index were reliable biomarkers for the staging of hepatic fibrosis on Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging.

Signal polarity restoration in a 3D inversion recovery sequence used with delayed gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of cartilage (dGEMRIC).
To develop an image reconstruction algorithm that restores the signal polarity in a three-dimensional inversion-recovery (3D-IR) sequence used in delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC). This approach effectively doubles the dynamic range of data used for T1 curve fitting. ⋯ This algorithm can be applied to any 2D- or 3D-IR acquisition sequence used in conjunction with dGEMRIC. Application of the algorithm improves the reliability of T1 calculations and allows the number of TIs to be reduced, leading to shorter scan times in dGEMRIC.
