Assessment of hepatic extraction fraction and input relative blood flow using dynamic hepatocyte-specific contrast-enhanced MRI.
To assess the feasibility to use dynamic hepatocyte-specific contrast-enhanced MRI (DHCE-MRI) as an imaging-based liver function test, and to compare two methods for deconvolutional analysis (DA) in healthy human subjects. ⋯ DHCE-MRI with Gd-EOB-DTPA enables the calculation of HEF and irBF. We regard these parameters as being markers of hepatic parenchymal function.

Improved time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography with IDEAL water-fat separation.
To implement IDEAL (iterative decomposition of water and fat using echo asymmetry and least squares estimation) water-fat separation with 3D time-of-flight (TOF) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) of intracranial vessels for improved background suppression by providing uniform and robust separation of fat signal that appears bright on conventional TOF-MRA. ⋯ By providing uniform suppression of fat, IDEAL TOF-MRA provides improved background suppression with improved image quality when compared to conventional TOF-MRA methods.

Optimized high-resolution mapping of magnetization transfer (MT) at 3 Tesla for direct visualization of substructures of the human thalamus in clinically feasible measurement time.
To optimize contrast-to-noise and spatial resolution of a FLASH-based magnetization transfer (MT) protocol for visualization of substructures in human thalamus. ⋯ Semiquantitative MT saturation maps provide an enhanced intra-thalamic contrast. The borders and nuclear groups of the thalamus are reliably delineated; individual assignment of singular nuclei seems feasible.

ToF-SWI: simultaneous time of flight and fully flow compensated susceptibility weighted imaging.
To perform systematic investigations on parameter selection of a dual-echo sequence (ToF-SWI) for combined 3D time-of-flight (ToF) angiography and susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI). ⋯ A dual-echo sequence (ToF-SWI) with full flow compensation of the second echo in a single scan is feasible. This sequence allows simultaneous visualization of intrinsically coregistered arteries and veins without spatial mis-registration of vessels caused by oblique flow and with minimal signal loss in arteries.

Fast dixon-based multisequence and multiplanar MRI for whole-body detection of cancer metastases.
To develop and demonstrate the feasibility of multisequence and multiplanar MRI for whole-body cancer detection. ⋯ Whole-body MRI offering essentially all the most optimal tumor-imaging sequences in a typical 1-hour time slot can potentially become an appealing "one-stop-shop" for whole-body cancer imaging.
