Prospective evaluation of nonenhanced MR imaging in acute pancreatitis.
To compare the value of nonenhanced (NE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (NE-MRI) with contrast-enhanced (CE) computed tomography (CT) (CE-CT) scan in assessing acute pancreatitis (AP) and in evaluating the severity index (SI) with clinical outcome. ⋯ NE-MRI seems to be a reliable method of staging AP severity in comparison to CE-CT scan.

Measurement of signal-to-noise ratios in MR images: influence of multichannel coils, parallel imaging, and reconstruction filters.
To evaluate the validity of different approaches to determine the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in MRI experiments with multi-element surface coils, parallel imaging, and different reconstruction filters. ⋯ The conventionally determined SNR based on separate signal and noise regions in a single image will in general not agree with the true SNR measured in images after the application of certain reconstruction filters, multichannel reconstruction, or parallel imaging.

Noninvasive MRI assessment of intracranial compliance in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.
To assess the state and dynamics of the intracranial system in idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus (I-NPH), we determined intracranial compliance using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). ⋯ Intracranial compliance analysis with MRI makes it possible to noninvasively obtain more detailed information of intracranial biomechanics in the I-NPH and to assist in the diagnosis of I-NPH.

T2 mapping of hip articular cartilage in healthy volunteers at 3T: a study of topographic variation.
To perform baseline T2 mapping of the hips of healthy volunteers, focusing on topographic variation, because no detailed study has involved hips. T2 mapping is a quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that evaluates cartilage matrix components. ⋯ Topographic variation exists in hip cartilage T2 in young, healthy adults. These findings should be taken into account when T2 mapping is applied to patients with degenerative cartilage.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of human melanoma xenografts with necrotic regions.
To investigate whether high-resolution images of necrotic regions in tumors can be derived from gadopentetate dimeglumine (Gd-DTPA)-based dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) series. ⋯ Clinically relevant images of necrotic tumor regions can be obtained for E-13 melanomas by subjecting Gd-DTPA-based DCE-MRI series to Kety analysis.
