Comparative StudyCorrelation between dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion MRI and methionine metabolism in brain gliomas: preliminary results.
To evaluate in brain gliomas the relationship between tumor vascularity measured by MR-based maximum regional cerebral blood volume (rCBV) and tumor amino-acid metabolism based on maximum carbon-11 methionine (MET) uptake on positron emission tomography (PET). ⋯ The maximum rCBV ratio and maximum MET uptake ratio are significantly correlated in gliomas, reflecting a close link between amino acid uptake and vascularity in these tumors.

Fast magnetization-driven preparation for imaging of contrast-enhanced coronary arteries during intra-arterial injection of contrast agent.
To implement a short-duration magnetization preparation sequence, which consists of a saturation followed by multiple inversion pulses, for imaging of short-T1 species and suppression of long-T1 species. ⋯ This work demonstrates that fast magnetization-driven preparation schemes can be implemented for fast imaging of CE coronary vessels with efficient saturation of background species.

Controlled Clinical TrialAn fMRI study of somatosensory-implicated acupuncture points in stable somatosensory stroke patients.
To assess differences in brain responses between stroke patients and controls to tactile and electrical acupuncture stimulation using functional MRI (fMRI). ⋯ Differences observed between patients and controls on both tasks may indicate compensatory over recruitment of neocortical areas involved in somatosensory perception in the stroke patients. The observed differences between patients and controls on the acupoint stimulation task may also indicate that stimulation of acupoints used therapeutically to enhance recovery from stroke, selectively activates areas thought to be involved in mediating recovery from stroke via functional plasticity. fMRI of acupoint stimulation may illustrate the functional substrate of the therapeutically beneficial effect of acupuncture in stroke rehabilitation.

Comparative StudyMeasurement of single kidney function using dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI: comparison of two models in human subjects.
To compare two methods for assessing the single kidney glomerular filtration rate (SK-GFR) in humans using dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI. ⋯ DCE-MRI of the kidneys provides data that correlate well with reference measures of SK-GFR. However, further work, including image registration, is needed to isolate measurement of glomerular filtration to the level of the renal cortex.

Respiratory-triggered MRCP applying parallel acquisition techniques.
To evaluate the influence of parallel imaging on the image quality of respiratory triggered magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP). ⋯ The application of parallel imaging for respiratory triggered MRCP significantly reduces the acquisition time without relevant influence on image quality.
