Method for improving the accuracy of quantitative cerebral perfusion imaging.
To improve the accuracy of dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) measurements of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and volume (CBV). ⋯ The addition of a CBV(SS) measurement to an STD measurement of cerebral perfusion improves the accuracy of CBV and CBF measurements. The method may prove useful for assessing patients suffering from acute stroke.

Comparative StudyMagnetic resonance imaging of the upper abdomen using a free-breathing T2-weighted turbo spin echo sequence with navigator triggered prospective acquisition correction.
To evaluate a free-breathing navigator triggered T2-weighted turbo spin-echo sequence with prospective acquisition correction (T2w-PACE-TSE) for MRI of the upper abdomen in comparison to a conventional T2-weighted TSE (T2w-CTSE), a single-shot TSE (T2w-HASTE), and a T1-weighted gradient-echo sequence (T1w-FLASH). ⋯ Prospective acquisition correction is an efficient method for reducing respiratory movement artifacts in T2w-TSE imaging of the upper abdomen. Compared to T2w-CTSE and T2w-HASTE sequences recognition of anatomical details and contrast can be significantly improved.

Gd(ABE-DTTA)-enhanced cardiac MRI for the diagnosis of ischemic events in the heart.
To demonstrate that contrast-enhanced MRI (ceMRI) with the aid of Gd(ABE-DTTA) is able to detect ischemic events in the heart in a canine ischemia/reperfusion (30/40 minutes) model. ⋯ Gd(ABE-DTTA) in an ischemia/reperfusion model induces a persistent MRI contrast between regions of normal and ischemic myocardium, and verifies reperfusion. Therefore, it can be used to detect myocardial ischemic events.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialEffect of ingestion order of the fat component of a solid meal on intragastric fat distribution and gastric emptying assessed by MRI.
To develop an MRI technique to investigate how varying the ingestion order of nonfat and fat components of a solid meal influences three-dimensional intragastric distribution and gastric emptying (GE). ⋯ Meal ingestion order influences GE and intragastric distribution of fat, which can be assessed by MRI techniques, providing new insights into the physiology of gastric processing and intragastric distribution of different meal phases.

Magnetic resonance image-guided trans-septal puncture in a swine heart.
To test the feasibility of performing magnetic resonance (MR)-guided trans-septal punctures in the swine heart. ⋯ Using only MR guidance and a novel active intravascular needle system, we were able to repeatedly puncture the fossa ovalis in a swine heart from a transfemoral approach, with direct visualization of all components, including the needle, the atria, the fossa ovalis, and the surrounding vasculature.
