To investigate whether oral lipid-lowering drugs (OLL) are used in line with the Mexican Official Regulation (NOM)-015-SSA-1994 for preventing, treating, and monitoring diabetes mellitus 2 (DM2) patients. ⋯ The data show that OLL treatment for DM2 patients varied from the NOM. Unification of criteria in primary care for the prescription pattern and the use of OLL for better metabolic control of this kind of patient were recommended.

Mother's milk is the ideal meal for the baby during the first six months of life. A good health education (before and after birth) helps to prolong breastfeeding (BF). ⋯ The prevalence of BF increases among the women that got health education and support from the health professionals.

[Improving communication between levels of health care: direct referral of patients to a one-stop service for major outpatient surgery].
To analyze the results obtained with a "one-stop" specialty service designed as part of a collaborative program involving primary and specialized care in order to improve communication between levels of care and reduce the delay in referral and surgical treatment for patients eligible for outpatient surgery. ⋯ Because of its feasibility, acceptability, and cost-efficiency, the direct referral system has the potential to improve relations between primary and specialized care and enhance the quality of care by shortening the delay to treatment.
