Dating violence is a relevant social problem in adolescent and young adult romantic relationships. Particular attention has begun to be paid to it by the scientific community in the last two decades. It may involve a sexual, physical and psychological dimension, requiring different prevention and intervention strategies. ⋯ The results point to the need to integrate the topic of dating violence in adolescent education using active methods with the effective participation of everyone involved in the process (adolescents, parents, teachers and health professionals). Only in this way will it be possible to develop healthy emotional relationship skills.

The phenomenon of adherence to treatment is a motive of worry from the scientific community, since it is considered as a worldwide problem of high magnitude. The implications are of great relevance in morbidity, mortality, in the significant increase in the consumption of health care and in the costs to the health system, particularly in patients with ischemic heart disease. We intend to evaluate adherence to treatment and relate beliefs about medicines with adherence to treatment. ⋯ The results are consistent with previous studies in which individuals with lower beliefs in specific concerns reported higher rates of adherence to medication.

To characterise sleep-wake patterns and their influence on academic performance for a sample of Portuguese adolescents. ⋯ Sleep and associated individual characteristics should be considered in the diagnosis and intervention process in secondary education.

The act of caring for a dependent elderly victim of cerebrovascular accident exerts different impacts on caregivers. Knowledge of their socioeconomic level by health professionals supports the planning and implementation of actions appropriate to the reality of the elderly and their caregivers. ⋯ The evidence found from the research show that informal caregivers with depressive symptoms have a poorer socioeconomic status, so that it is compulsory to consider these variables when planning interventions whose primary focus of attention is aimed at caregivers and elderly cerebrovascular accident victims experiencing situations of transition.
