[Artificial intelligence and its applications in medicine II: Current importance and practical applications].
Technology and medicine follow a parallel path during the last decades. Technological advances are changing the concept of health and health needs are influencing the development of technology. Artificial intelligence (AI) is made up of a series of sufficiently trained logical algorithms from which machines are capable of making decisions for specific cases based on general rules. ⋯ Therefore, AI is going to be a technology present in our daily work through machines or computer programs, which in a more or less transparent way for the user, will become a daily reality in health processes. Health professionals have to know this technology, its advantages and disadvantages, because it will be an integral part of our work. In these two articles we intend to give a basic vision of this technology adapted to doctors with a review of its history and evolution, its real applications at the present time and a vision of a future in which AI and Big Data will shape the personalized medicine that will characterize the 21st century.

An approach is made to the psychological and psychosocial characteristics that the COVID-19 pandemic is acquiring in the countries of our socio-cultural environment. The scarcity of research in this regard and the necessary acceptance of uncertainty to face the situation, both socially, as well as health and psychological, are discussed. Consequently, a series of reflections and recommendations are proposed for the psychological care of the population, health workers and social organization based on: 1) The existence of psychological and psychosocial research into connected fields and 2) In the new neuroscientific perspectives on emotions and their elaboration in crisis situations.

To estimate the effectiveness of a Medication Discrepancy Detection Service (MDDS), a collaborative service between the community pharmacy and Primary Care. ⋯ The MDDS resulted in a reduction in the number of medicines per patients and number of hospital admissions, and the service was associated with affordable, cost-effective ratios.

To explore the perceptions of health professionals about the characteristics of health care for patients with multimorbidity. ⋯ Both the professional culture and the organization of the healthcare system have been oriented towards the attention to individual pathologies, which results in the difficulty to offer a more integrated care to patients with multimorbidity.

Evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention to family caregivers. ⋯ The resulting effective intervention to improve perceived social support. However, the low impact on other variables suggests reconsidering its contents, as well as encouraging new prospective studies that may offer more encouraging results.
