Predictive risk factors of acute kidney injury after cytoreductive surgery and cisplatin-based hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy for ovarian peritoneal carcinomatosis.
The aim of our study was to assess the incidence and identify the predictive risk factors of acute kidney injury after cytoreductive surgery and cisplatin-based hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy. ⋯ The incidence of acute kidney injury after cytoreductive surgery and cisplatin-based hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy was high. Hypertension and low intra-operative diuresis were independent risk factors for this complication. Adequate peri-operative hydration, in order to maintain correct diuresis, could decrease the occurrence of acute kidney injury in patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery plus hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy.

Phase Ib with expansion study of olaparib plus weekly (Metronomic) carboplatin and paclitaxel in relapsed ovarian cancer patients.
Our goals were to: establish the maximum-tolerated dose of olaparib tablets combined with metronomic carboplatin and paclitaxel in patients with relapsed high-grade serous ovarian cancer; evaluate dose-limiting toxicities; and evaluate efficacy at the maximum tolerated dose. ⋯ Olaparib 150 mg tablet twice daily can be safely administered in combination with metronomic carboplatin and paclitaxel in pre-treated relapsed ovarian cancer with 24% complete remission. BRCAm patients had statistically significant longer progression-free survival and overall survival than BRCAwt.

Comparative StudyEvaluation of portable colposcopy and human papillomavirus testing for screening of cervical cancer in rural China.
To evaluate the use of a portable, rechargeable colposcope combined with human papillomavirus (HPV) testing, as compared with HPV testing alone, for screening of cervical cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. ⋯ While HPV testing has high sensitivity and specificity for the detection of pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions and portable colposcopy has lower specificity, both methods of detection have low positive predictive value and high negative predictive value. In tandem, HPV testing and portable colposcopy had higher sensitivity for detection among women who underwent biopsies. In clinical practice, portable colposcopy was an effective, easy and affordable tool to transport to villages where cytology is not currently feasible.

End-of-Life Care for Patients With Advanced Ovarian Cancer Is Aggressive Despite Hospice Intervention: A Population-Based Study.
To date, few studies have examined end-of-life (EOL) care and healthcare costs for patients with ovarian cancer. We evaluated the effects of hospice care on the quality of EOL care and healthcare costs for patients with ovarian cancer in the final month of life. ⋯ The aggressiveness of EOL cancer care and healthcare costs could not be offset in the final month of life among women with advanced ovarian cancer who received hospice care. The factors of more hospitalizations and dying in hospital warrant further investigation.

Effect of a Complementary/Integrative Medicine Treatment Program on Taxane-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy: A Brief Report.
Peripheral neuropathy is a common complication of cancer treatment impairing quality of life and function. This study explored the impact of a complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) program on taxane-induced peripheral neuropathy (TIPN). ⋯ Acupuncture and other CIM therapies may result in a short-term and transitory reduction in TIPN-related symptoms.
