Mouth and pharyngeal cancers account for approximately 6% of cancers worldwide. Radiotherapy is one of the means of treatment of head and neck cancer. Consultation with a dental team experienced in caring for patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancer will improve the quality of life of such patients. ⋯ The study indicated a need for awareness and education among radiation oncologists regarding dental consultation in patients planned/undergoing /post radiation therapy for head and neck cancer.

Comparative evaluation of formocresol and mineral trioxide aggregate as pulpotomy agents in deciduous teeth.
To evaluate and compare mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and formocresol as pulpotomy medicaments by clinical and radiographic assessments and to assess the histological features of both pulpotomy medicaments in deciduous teeth. ⋯ MTA is superior to formocresol clinically, radiographically. Histological analysis showed better reparative ability with hard tissue barrier formation with MTA compared to formocresol.

The prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal complaints in dentists is high and the past two decades have witnessed a sharp rise in the incidence of various disorders. The prevalence of musculoskeletal pain ranges between 64% and 93%. The most effected regions have been back and neck. Various studies have been done to record stress levels and health-related behaviors of dentists in other countries but limited data is available among the Indian dentists. ⋯ A significant direct correlation between the number of sessions taken for physical activity and the self-perceived improvement in the symptoms was found using the Pearson correlation test. The work-related musculoskeletal disorders among dentists not only decrease their efficiency but also is a major concern among them. Self-awareness and benefits of regular exercise is the need of the hour.

A post traumatic parotid sialocele is an acquired lesion that arises from extravasation of saliva into glandular or periglandular tissues secondary to disruption of the parotid duct or parenchyma. Facial trauma and surgery in the parotid region are the most common causes of this rare condition. This paper presents an unusual incidence of post traumatic parotid sialocele after Le-Fort II fracture reduction and its management by relatively simple and cost-effective technique which can be carried out in routine dental surgery suite. The results achieved justify our recommendation of scalp vein cannula for the treatment of sialocele in clinical practice.

Gold weight implantation as a treatment measure for correction of paralytic lagophthalmos.
Ocular complications from facial nerve paralysis can be quite devastating. Facial nerve paralysis results in cosmetic as well as functional problems. Paralysis of the upper eyelids leads to lagophthalmos, which results in incomplete closure of the lid over the cornea, leading to potential complication of corneal ulceration. ⋯ The most popular and widely used static procedure in facial nerve palsy is the upper eyelid gold weight implant. Gold eyelid implants are designed for the gravity assisted treatment of the functional defect of lagophthalmos resulting from facial paralysis. We report a case of a patient with facial paralysis who underwent gold weight implantation of the upper eyelid for correction of paralytic lagophthalmos.
