The current recommendation in setting up the Neopuff is to use a gas flow of 5-15 L/min. We investigated if the sensitivity of the positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) valve varies at different flow rates within this range. ⋯ Users of the Neopuff should be aware that the PEEP valve is more sensitive at lower flow rates and that half a rotation of the dial at 5 L/min gas flow can more than double the PEEP.

To determine whether the mortality for out-of-hospital (OOH) premature births was higher than for in-hospital premature births and identify additional risk factors. ⋯ Mortality was more than twice as high in out-of-hospital deliveries than for in-hospital matched controls. Hypothermia was an important associated risk factor. Measures such as oxygen administration to maintain an appropriate saturation for gestational age, the provision of polyethylene plastic wraps and skin-to-skin contact are recommended.

To evaluate modifications of gut microbiota after antibiotic therapy in breast-fed infants. ⋯ Our findings showed that gut microbiota was significantly modified after 5 days of antibiotic therapy; exclusively, breast-feeding may be relevant in promoting the re-establishment of gut microbiota composition in early infancy.
