ReviewChallenges and Opportunities Facing Pediatric Anesthesia Providers in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs): India.
India is a vast, populous country with a huge variability in the standards of health care. While the cities have state of the art hospitals with trained doctors, rural areas where most of the population lives, have a severe shortage of resources. Children form nearly 40% of India's population, and there is a great demand for pediatric surgical and anesthesia services. ⋯ On the other hand, the dearth of anesthesiologists offers ample opportunities to serve the underserved, improve the safety and quality of perioperative care in the rural areas, and improve the self-image of the anesthesiologist. A paucity of data regarding anesthesia, surgery, and work-related issues makes writing an article like this very difficult. However, it highlights the need for professional bodies to take note of these facts and play an active role in encouraging documentation, data collection, and improving standards of teaching and practice.

Pediatric anesthesia training to early career stage: opportunities for firm foundations.
Attaining professional contentment can be challenging for many. Academic success, psychosocial support, and the confidence to provide excellent clinical care at the workplace are key pillars that can help build a sense of meaning in a career. The role of mentorship in facilitating these key pillars at different stages of pediatric anesthesia training and new independent practice is instrumental. ⋯ Mentees should seek out mentors early in training, build on these relationships, and explore opportunities for peer mentorship as they advance in their career. For mentors, introducing mentees to the clinical and academic aspects of pediatric anesthesia and setting the foundation for the mentee to advance in their career can be both gratifying and stimulating. In this article, we explore the development and progression of a mentor-mentee relationship through training to the early career stage and its role in developing a meaningful career in pediatric anesthesia.

Ask the Question, Be the Solution: Fostering Wellbeing Through Contextualized Assessment and Strategy Development.
In recent years, optimizing provider well-being and mitigating the effects of physician burnout have become increasingly important in the field of medicine. These efforts are in part of consequence because of significant costs associated with provider burnout, for both individuals and their workplace. ⋯ We describe how collected data allowed us to identify important areas for improvement, build community, and target novel interventions to ultimately improve the well-being of our division for all members. This manuscript does not describe survey results in any detail, but rather aims to present a creative application of the Hawthorne Effect as it applies to understanding physician well-being.

Workplace wellbeing in pediatric anaesthesia: How to design and implement a bespoke evidence-based framework in your department.
All anesthetists are at risk of mental ill health and pediatric anesthetists face additional stressors that may impact upon well-being, particularly after an adverse outcome. The SARS COV-2 pandemic has resulted in a plethora of resources to support the well-being of frontline workers. Developing a well-being system for an anesthesia department using these resources may be complex to implement. ⋯ Departments have different constraints which will alter how they approach supporting anaesthetists' wellbeing. Regardless of location or funding all departments should explicitly address anesthetists well-being. Long term sustainable well-being programs require a strategic and coordinated approach.
