To extend knowledge on mental health with children's self-report and explore mental health and health related quality of life (HRQL) in a context of recurrent musculoskeletal pain in cerebral palsy (CP). ⋯ In CP, the importance of child-report on mental health and HRQL when possible, in addition to parent proxy-report, cannot be overstated. Close co-operation between (re)habilitation and child psychiatry is urgent. Further research on self-reported mental health and impact of mental health problems is warranted together with a focus on the impact of recurrent musculoskeletal pain on participation.

To examine long-term outcomes of Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injection to vastus lateralis (VL) for refractory anterior knee pain (AKP). ⋯ A single BoNT-A treatment to VL led initially to improved function and relief of knee-related symptoms in 57 of 65 individuals. Improvements were sustained at follow-up, with an average benefit of 34 months (SD 25) post-injection, in 44 of 57 cases.

Clinicians commonly believe that lower extremity amputations are potentially preventable with coordinated care and motivated patient self-management. We used in-depth interviews with recent amputees to assess how patients viewed their initial amputation risk and causes. ⋯ Most patients felt out of control and had a poor understanding of the events leading to their initial amputations. Prevention of subsequent amputations will require rehabilitation programs to address low health literacy and psychosocial obstacles to self-management.

The purpose of this study is to characterize hip-fractured patients who maintained or improved their functional ability, 1 year postdischarge from rehabilitation and to identify factors associated with functional achievement maintenance. ⋯ A substantial decline in functional ability of hip-fractured patients occurred 1 year postdischarge from rehabilitation. Healthcare providers should be aware of the necessity for a long-term postrehabilitation physical training program to prevent functional decline. Further efforts should be invested in motivating their patients to exercise.

To assess overall reliability and validity of a neck-specific questionnaire, the Profile Fitness Mapping neck questionnaire (ProFitMap-neck), on three chronic neck pain groups. ⋯ The results indicate that the ProFitMap-neck is valid for measuring symptoms and functional limitations in people with chronic neck pain. The combination of a composite total score of symptoms and function as well as separate scores of each domain makes ProFitMap-neck suitable for research as well as in clinical practice.
