To translate and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Chinese-Cantonese version of the Adolescent Dysmenorrhic Self-Care Scale. ⋯ Nurses may use the 35-item Chinese-Cantonese-Adolescent Dysmenorrhic Self-Care Scale in assessing the self-care behaviour of adolescent girls with dysmenorrhoea, so that girls with a low level of self-care behaviour can be identified and appropriate intervention can be provided.

To develop a theoretical understanding of the processes hindering person-centred care of older people with cognitive impairment in acute care settings. ⋯ The proposed substantive theory can be used to critically examine current ward practices and routines, and the extent to which these support or inhibit high-quality person-centred care for older patients with known or unknown cognitive impairments.

To describe relatives' experiences of needing support and information and of the impact on everyday life six months after a significant other survived cardiac arrest treated with therapeutic hypothermia at an intensive care unit. ⋯ The study shows that healthcare personnel need to improve provision of support and information and provide follow-up appointments for relatives to clarify prognosis and rehabilitation issues.

To describe the postoperative pain and to examine the relationship between pain intensity, pain interference and self-rated health after elective orthopaedic surgery. ⋯ Postoperative pain management should be given high priority after elective orthopaedic surgery, in order to improve self-rated health and function. Pain treatment for shoulder surgery patients may require more attention than it currently receives.

To explore the common symptom cluster in lung cancer patients with surgical treatment and to evaluate the relationships between symptom cluster and patients' disease outcomes, including functional status and quality of life. ⋯ Symptoms in lung cancer surgery patients often occurred as cluster during the trajectory of disease. To improve the well-being of patients, attentions need to be focused on developing symptom cluster management strategies.
