Multicenter Study
Factors related to limitation of life support within 48h of intensive care unit admission: A multicenter study.
To determine factors related to limitations on life support within 48h of intensive care unit (ICU) admission. ⋯ Limitations on life support are common, but the practice varies. Quality of life has the greatest impact on decisions to limit life support within 48h of admission.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A new chest compression technique in infants.
To compare the quality of chest compressions performed according to the classical technique (MT) versus a new technique (NM) (compression with 2thumbs with closed fists) in an infant manikin. ⋯ The quality of chest compressions with the new method (thumbs with closed fists) is similar to that afforded by the traditional method.

To determine the predictive value of the inotropic score (IS) and vasoactive-inotropic score (VIS) in low cardiac output syndrome (LCOS) in children after congenital heart disease surgery involving cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), and to establish whether mid-regional pro-adrenomedullin (MR-proADM) and cardiac troponin I (cTn-I), associated to the IS and VIS scores, increases the predictive capacity in LCOS. ⋯ The VIS score at 2h post-CPB was identified as an independent early predictor of LCOS. This predictive value was not increased when associated with LCOS cardiac biomarkers. The VIS score was more useful than IS post-CPB in making early therapeutic decisions in clinical practice post-CPB.
