Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyOral hypoglycemic agents vs insulin in management of gestational diabetes: a systematic review and metaanalysis.
The objective of this review was to provide pooled estimates of randomized controlled trials comparing the effects of oral hypoglycemic agents with insulin in achieving glycemic control and to study the maternal and perinatal outcomes in gestational diabetes mellitus. ⋯ Our study demonstrates that there are no differences in glycemic control or pregnancy outcomes when OHAs were compared with insulin.

Evaluation of the introduction of robotic technology on route of hysterectomy and complications in the first year of use.
We sought to determine the differential rates and complications of hysterectomy type in the year prior to and following the introduction of robotic technology. ⋯ Route of hysterectomy changed significantly after the introduction of robotic technology primarily due to a change in management of pelvic organ prolapse. Open hysterectomy was associated with significantly higher complication rates.

ReviewHigh-dose vs low-dose oxytocin for labor augmentation: a systematic review.
The objective of this systematic review was to estimate the efficacy and safety of high-dose vs low-dose oxytocin for labor augmentation on the risk of cesarean section and on indicators of maternal and neonatal morbidity. We searched PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library for randomized clinical trials published until January 2010. ⋯ While hyperstimulation was increased with high-dose oxytocin (RR, 1.91; 95% CI, 1.49-2.45), there was no evidence of an increase in maternal or neonatal morbidity. We conclude that high-dose oxytocin for labor augmentation is associated with a decrease in cesarean section and shortened labor.

Citation classics in obstetrics and gynecology: the 100 most frequently cited journal articles in the last 50 years.
Our objective was to characterize the most frequently cited articles published in obstetrics and gynecology journals during the last 50 years. ⋯ Most "citation classics" in obstetrics and gynecology are observational studies published in high-impact journals by US-based authors after 1980.

Randomized Controlled TrialRandomized controlled trial of wound complication rates of subcuticular suture vs staples for skin closure at cesarean delivery.
The purpose of this study was to determine the wound complication rates and patient satisfaction for subcuticular suture vs staples for skin closure at cesarean delivery. ⋯ Use of staples for cesarean delivery closure is associated with an increased risk of wound complications. Occurrence of a wound complication is the most important factor that influenced patient satisfaction.
