Experimental amniotic fluid infection in sheep: effects of Ureaplasma parvum serovars 3 and 6 on preterm or term fetal sheep.
The objective of the study was to determine the effects in late gestation of Ureaplasma parvum serovar 3 colonization and the effects, preterm, of U. parvum serovar 6. ⋯ Fetal lung inflammation and altered development accompanies ureaplasma colonization, regardless of age at delivery.

Multicenter StudyFetal lung volume after endoscopic tracheal occlusion in the prediction of postnatal outcome.
The objective of the study was to investigate the volume response of the contralateral lung in the prediction of postnatal outcome in fetuses with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) treated by fetoscopic endotracheal occlusion (FETO). ⋯ In fetuses with CDH, the lung responsiveness within 2 and 7 days after FETO provides useful prediction of subsequent survival.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is a rare cause of acute myocardial infarction that occurs particularly in women during the pregnancy and in the postpartum period. We describe a dramatic case of pregnancy-related spontaneous left main coronary artery dissection that resulted in acute myocardial infarction with severe left ventricular dysfunction and was complicated by acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock. Urgent revascularization and restoration of myocardial perfusion that were performed in this case resulted in marked left ventricular function recovery and clinical improvement.

Neurovascular anatomy of the sacrospinous ligament region in female cadavers: Implications in sacrospinous ligament fixation.
The objective of the study was to further characterize the anatomy of the coccygeus muscle-sacrospinous ligament (C-SSL) complex and to correlate the findings with sacrospinous ligament fixations (SSLF). ⋯ Nerves to the coccygeus and levator ani coursed over the midportion of the C-SSL where SSLF sutures are placed. The pudendal nerve and IGA were in proximity to the superior border of the C-SSL at its midportion, whereas the IPA passed behind the ischial spine, lateral to the recommended site for suture placement.

Case ReportsProphylactic balloon occlusion of the internal iliac arteries to treat abnormal placentation: a cautionary case.
Massive hemorrhage from abnormal placentation is a leading cause of postpartum maternal death and hysterectomy after cesarean section. The endovascular surgeon and radiologist are increasingly asked to assist in the management of these complex patients with the placement of bilateral internal iliac artery balloon catheters. ⋯ A review of the vascular and obstetrical literature reveals divergent recommendations for the use of this technique in patients with abnormal placentation. No guidance from rigorous prospective evidence is available and thus we offer recommendations for the cautious use of this modality.
