To describe the presentation and treatment of a Taser penetrating ocular injury. ⋯ Any Taser injury around the orbits should raise the suspicion of a penetrating ocular injury. In likely cases, removal of the Taser should be performed in an operating theater under general anesthesia.

To report a case of phthisis bulbi resulting from late congenital syphilis untreated until adulthood. ⋯ This is a rare case of phthisis bulbi resulting from late congenital syphilis. We emphasize that treatment for late congenital syphilis must be carried out early and completely.

Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Epithelial healing and clinical outcomes in excimer laser photorefractive surgery following three epithelial removal techniques: mechanical, alcohol, and excimer laser.
To evaluate epithelial healing, postoperative pain, and visual and refractive outcomes after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) using three epithelial removal techniques. ⋯ Postoperative pain, subepithelial opacity and BSCVA were similar regardless of the epithelial removal procedure. A faster epithelial healing rate did not result in better visual or refractive outcomes. Using the same nomogram, tPRK resulted in a slight overcorrection, and LASEK resulted in a slight undercorrection.

Dilation of the minor arterial circle of the iris preceding rubeosis iridis during retinal vein occlusion.
To report in four patients with retinal vein occlusion the presence of biomicroscopically visible circulation in the minor arterial circle of the iris, preceding rubeosis iridis in two cases. ⋯ In patients with ischemic retinal vein occlusion, the clinical finding of a dilation of the minor arterial circle may indicate the necessity of a closer follow-up to make a timely decision on panretinal photocoagulation.

To provide an update on imaging of the brain and orbit for ophthalmologists. ⋯ New imaging techniques for brain and orbit have an increased potential for improving diagnostic yield. Accurate and timely communication with the neuroradiologist can optimize the prescription and interpretation of imaging in ophthalmology.
