The aim of the current study was to translate and test the psychometrical properties of the disease-specific pulmonary embolism quality-of-life questionnaire (PEmb-QoL). ⋯ Findings of the current study indicate that Norwegian version of the PEmb-QoL is both valid and reliable, thus representing an important supplement in subjective outcomes measurement among patients sustaining PE.

Health-related quality of life and cost comparison of adjuvant capecitabine versus 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin in stage III colorectal cancer patients.
The purpose of this study was to compare health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and costs associated with 2 adjuvant chemotherapy regimens [capecitabine-based therapy versus 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin (5-FU/LV)-based therapy] in stage III colorectal cancer patients. ⋯ Capecitabine is a reasonable alternative and cost-effective treatment option under current conditions for patients with stage III colorectal cancer.

The Caregiver Quality of Life Index-Cancer (CQOLC) is used worldwide to determine levels of quality of life of caregivers of patients with cancer; however, the few studies examining the underlying factor structure of the CQOLC have revealed differences between Western and Eastern cultures. This study sought to confirm the differences in the factor structures between the original CQOLC and a Taiwanese (Mandarin) version. ⋯ Cross-cultural differences, which require further investigations, appear to underlie the utility and understanding of the CQOLC. More research is needed to better understand the needs of Singapore caregivers.

The impact of pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (pNTM) disease on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has not received significant attention in the literature. In this study, we compared the HRQoL in patients with pNTM disease and healthy subjects and identified influencing factors using EuroQol 5D (EQ-5D) data. ⋯ This study suggested the EQ-5D may not be useful instrument in pNTM patients due to ceiling effect of EQ-5D and mild disease activity. Patients with pNTM disease tended to report more reduced health status and more problems with anxiety/depression than the healthy controls. Lung function, measured by FEV1, was independently associated with EQ-5D scores in patients with pNTM disease.

Disability data inform resource allocation and utilization, characterize functioning and changes over time, and provide a mechanism to monitor progress toward promoting and protecting the rights of individuals with disability. Data collection efforts, however, define and measure disability in varied ways. Our objective was to see how the content of disability measures differed in five US national surveys and over time. ⋯ This research successfully illustrated demonstrated the utility of the ICF in examining the content of disability measures in five national surveys and over time.
