Randomized Controlled Trial
Changes in patient functioning and disability: results from a phase 3, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluating galcanezumab for chronic migraine prevention (REGAIN).
To evaluate secondary outcomes including changes in functioning and disability associated with galcanezumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody to calcitonin gene-related peptide, in patients with chronic migraine. ⋯ Galcanezumab-treated patients with chronic migraine reported statistically significant improvements in functioning and disability, representing a clinically significant change.

Psychometric properties comparison between EQ-5D-5L and EQ-5D-3L in the general Thai population.
Evidence for the EQ-5D-5L's psychometric properties in the general Thai population is limited. This study aimed to compare ceiling effect, discriminatory power, response redistribution, validity, reliability between the EQ-5D-5L (5L) and the EQ-5D-3L (3L) in the general Thai population. ⋯ Evidence supported use of both EQ-5D versions in the general Thai population. The 5L had better ceiling effects and discriminant activity, while it showed comparable known-groups validity with the 3L. Nevertheless, evidence is limited for the superiority of reliability between these two versions, so more future research is required to investigate it.

To describe health status and health state utilities measured by the EQ-5D-3L in a population-based sample of individuals aged 85 + in Germany, and to analyze associations with basic socio-demographic variables. ⋯ The results show a substantially impaired health status of the oldest-old population. The data can be used for comparing health status of population groups as well as for health economic models.

The National Institutes of Health established the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) to assess health across various chronic illnesses. The standardized PROMIS measures have been used to assess symptoms in studies that included Native American participants, although the psychometric properties of these measures have not been assessed among a solely Native American population. This study aimed to assess the reliability, construct validity, and measurement invariance of a widely used PROMIS Physical Function survey among Native Americans residing on or near the Apsáalooke (Crow) Reservation who were living with chronic illnesses. ⋯ The above PROMIS measure had good psychometric properties in females and when the two sex groups were combined among Native American adults living on or near the Apsáalooke reservation with chronic illnesses. Thresholds and factor loadings appeared to be invariant by sex. Future studies with a larger sample size among males and more studies on the psychometric properties of other PROMIS measures among Native American populations are needed.

Patients with non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPA) suffer from pronounced impairments in physical and mental measures that result in an impairment of health-related quality of life (HRQOL). The role of secondary adrenal insufficiency (SAI) and especially the one of the hydrocortisone (HC) replacement dose on the HRQOL seems to be conflicting. The primary aim of this study is to assess the HRQOL in patients with NFPA in terms of presence of SAI and in patients without SAI and the secondary to explore the impact of treatment parameters such as daily HC dose. ⋯ NFPA patients with SAI do not have a worse HRQOL than patients with NFPA and intact corticotropic axis. We could show that higher doses of HC are associated with an impaired HRQOL measured by SF-36 global and physical health score, whereas mental health score is not significantly influenced by the HC dose.
