The aim of the study was to evaluate the expression and clinicopathological significance of Aquaporin-1 (AQP1) and Aquaporin-3 (AQP3) in extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (EHCC). ⋯ Positive expression of AQP1 and AQP3 is closely related to the pathogenesis, severe clinicopathological characteristics, aggressive biological behaviors, and dismal prognoses in EHCC.

Pulmonary MALT lymphoma is a rare disease that is easily misdiagnosed. The objective of this study was to improve the understanding of pulmonary MALT lymphoma for clinicians. ⋯ We herein demonstrated the imaging findings for 18 cases of pulmonary MALT lymphomas by analyzing the corresponding pathologies. We also discovered that vessels/airways could pass through pulmonary MALT lymphoma lesions, which may be helpful for diagnosis. This disease should be considered when chest CT imaging shows multiple/single masses or nodules or mass-like areas of consolidation together with vessels/airways passing through lesions.

Legionnaires' disease (LD) is a serious sometimes fatal pneumonia caused by Legionella pneumophila. The clinical manifestations of LD may be similar to those by caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. As both conditions can be serious illnesses but requiring different antimicrobial therapies, factors that can help differentiate these types of pneumonias can be helpful in the clinical management of hospitalized patients with bacterial pneumonia. This study aimed to compare clinical features and indicators of disease progression in hospitalized patients with community-acquired pneumonia caused by L. pneumophila and bacteremic S. pneumoniae. ⋯ Our data suggests that variables that may distinguish LD from S. pneumoniae include male gender, diarrhea, hyponatremia, higher temperature on admission, higher BMI and fewer comorbidities. Bacteremic S. pneumoniae was associated with poorer outcomes than LD including higher rates of septic shock, mechanical ventilation, ICU admission, and death.
