The effects of atrial fibrillation (AF) and its burden on in-hospital mortality in patients with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) are unclear. Here, we examined the effect of AF and paroxysmal AF on in-hospital outcomes in patients with TCM. ⋯ Although AF was associated with increased in-hospital mortality, paroxysmal AF did not affect in-hospital mortality, suggesting a higher AF burden is associated with worse clinical outcome in patients with TCM.

LINC01232 has been implicated in the progression of multiple malignancies. Yet, the function of LINC01232 in the carcinogenesis of lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) remains unclear. This study aims to examine the role LINC01232 plays in LUSC progression. ⋯ In summary, our study demonstrates that LINC01232 expression increases in LUSC tissues and cell lines and promotes LUSC progression by modulating the miR-181a-5p/SMAD2 signaling, providing new potential drug targets for LUSC treatment.

Previous studies have shown the role of microRNA (miR)-19 in aging-related heart failure. The present study aimed to verify the effects of miR-19 on cardiac fibrosis and its target. ⋯ Upregulating miR-19 can improve cardiac function and attenuate cardiac fibrosis by inhibiting the CTGF and MAPK pathways.
