The relationship between the presence of pleural and pericardial effusion in reference to hemodynamic parameters remains unclear in ambulatory patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH). ⋯ Systemic venous hypertension was associated with the presence of pericardial effusions, while pulmonary venous hypertension is associated with pleural effusion development in ambulatory patients with pulmonary hypertension.

Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) infection is associated with an uncontrolled systemic inflammatory response. Statins, given their anti-inflammatory properties, may reduce the associated morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to determine the association between statin use prior to hospitalization and in-hospital mortality in COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Our study suggests that statins are associated with reduced in-hospital mortality among patients with COVID-19, regardless of CAD status. More comprehensive epidemiological and molecular studies are needed to establish the role of statins in COVID-19.

We aimed to investigate the mechanisms of renal fibrosis and explore the effect of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Treg) on renal fibrosis after the obstruction was removed. ⋯ The kidney could deteriorate into a state of injury and fibrosis after the obstruction was removed, and Treg could effectively protect the kidney function.
