The STarT Back Screening Tool (SBST) is a 9-item questionnaire designed for screening low back pain (LBP) patients into three prognostic groups for stratified care. The stratified care approach has proven to be clinically more beneficial and cost-effective than the current best physiotherapy practice. The objective of this study was to translate, culturally adapt and study psychometric properties of the SBST among Finnish LBP patients. ⋯ The Finnish translation of the SBST is linguistically accurate and has been adapted to the Finnish-speaking population. It showed to be a valid and reliable instrument and comparable with the original English version. Therefore, it may be used in clinical work with Finnish LBP patients.

The Oswestry Spinal Risk Index (OSRI) was recently reported as an adjunct in the management of metastatic spinal disease. Based on the tumour type and a general condition score, survivorship is predicted. We aimed to externally validate this new score. ⋯ We found that the OSRI is a simple to use scoring system. We found a strong correlation in our results with the predicted survivorship based on the OSRI. The OSRI can be used as a useful adjunct in the management of patient with metastatic disease of the spine.

To evaluate the effectiveness of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for the management of neck pain and associated disorders (NAD), whiplash-associated disorders, and non-specific low back pain (LBP) with or without radiculopathy. ⋯ For NAD, oral NSAIDs may be more effective than placebo. Oral NSAIDs are more effective than placebo for persistent LBP, but not for recent-onset LBP. Different oral NSAIDs lead to similar outcomes for neck pain and LBP.
