The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and the safety of a new skin incision for minimally invasive anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF): the perinavel incision. ⋯ In this paper, the perinavel skin incision was demonstrated to be as safe as traditional approaches for ALIF. Furthermore, with this incision it is possible to perform multilevel (L3-S1) ALIF, which means a good option in minimally invasive surgery as well as revision surgery. Iliac crest has long been the gold standard for lumbar fusion, but concerns over donor site morbidity have led to a wide variety of bone graft substitutes. Despite prolific research, a general consensus is yet to be reached on bone graft materials that lead to optimal fusion. ⋯ While our results find that LAG+BMA provided highest fusion rate, most material options analyzed in this study provide comparable fusion outcomes. The ideal graft option must incorporate a combination of materials with osteoconductive, osteoinductive, and osteogenic properties. Relationship between sagittal spinal curves geometry and isokinetic trunk muscle strength in adults.
Sagittal spinal deviation has been reported to be a significant musculoskeletal problem affecting both genders and could develop at any age. Factors triggering this issue are still not well defined. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between sagittal spine angles and isokinetic peak, average torque, and power of trunk muscles in asymptomatic adults. ⋯ Sagittal spine balance is associated with trunk muscles strength in adults, particularly, the lumbar spine muscles. Therefore, assessment of sagittal spinal balance and trunk muscles strength should be taken into consideration when designing rehabilitation programs for correction of sagittal spine curvature.

To investigate the relationship between the K-line tilt and classical cervical parameters such as the C2-C7 sagittal vertical axis (SVA), cervical lordosis, and the T1 slope in cervical sagittal alignment. We assessed whether the K-line tilt can be used as an excellent cervical parameter. ⋯ This study showed that the K-line tilt is also a useful parameter like the C2-C7 SVA and T1S-CL in cervical sagittal alignment. Use gait analysis to establish and detail the clinically relevant components of normal human gait, analyze the gait characteristics for those afflicted with spinal pathology, and identify those aspects of human gait that correlate with pre- and postoperative patient function and outcomes. ⋯ Gait analysis provides an objective measure of functional gait in healthy controls as well as those with ADS and CSM. This study established and detailed some of the important kinematic and kinetic variables of gait in patients with spinal disorders. We recommend that spine care providers use gait analysis as part of their clinical evaluation to provide an objective measure of function.
