The purpose of this report is to describe the development of a list of resources necessary to implement a model of care for the management of spine-related concerns anywhere in the world, but especially in underserved communities and low- and middle-income countries. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first international and interprofessional attempt to develop a list of resources needed to deliver care in an evidence-based care pathway for the management of people presenting with spine-related concerns. This resource list needs to be field tested in a variety of communities with different resource capacities to verify its utility. The Adam's forward bending test is the most commonly used approach to assess the spine deformity in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients. However, there are noticeable differences in the hump appearance from standing to forward bending. This phenomenon has yet to be understood due to limitations of conventional radiographs. This study aimed to investigate effects of postural change in the spine deformity in the coronal plane of AIS patients using a 3D ultrasound imaging system. ⋯ Spine deformities of AIS patients vary with different postures. The patterns of changes in sitting and sitting forward bending postures are highly subject dependent. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

To assess the ability of the recently developed adult spinal deformity frailty index (ASD-FI) to predict odds of perioperative complications, odds of reoperation, and length of hospital stay after adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgery using a database other than the one used to create the index. ⋯ Greater patient frailty, as measured by the ASD-FI, is associated with longer hospital stays and greater odds of major complications and reoperation. Sagittal spinal deformity (SSD) patients utilize pelvic tilt (PT) and their lower extremities in order to compensate for malalignment. This study examines the effect of hip osteoarthritis (OA) on compensatory mechanisms in SSD patients. ⋯ Patients with coexisting spinal malalignment and SOA compensate by pelvic shift and thoracic hypokyphosis rather than PT, likely as a result of limited hip extension secondary to SOA. As a result, SOA had worse global sagittal alignment than their LOA counterparts. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

To investigate the threshold of the curve difference on ultrasound measurement relative to the previous radiographic measurements to detect curves progression in children who have idiopathic scoliosis (IS). ⋯ The ultrasound imaging method can be applied to identify curve progression in children with IS. Four degree is the preferred threshold value to detect the curve which had progressed, since it also had the lower rate of undetected progressed cases (false negatives).
