Variation of cervical sagittal alignment parameters according to age and pelvic incidence in degenerative spinal deformity patients.
In asymptomatic subjects, variations of cervical sagittal alignment parameters according to age and spinopelvic organization have been reported. A large range of compensation phenomena has been observed in degenerative spinal deformity in order to maintain horizontal gaze, but it remains unclear how age and spinopelvic morphology could additionally influence cervical alignment. The aim of this observational retrospective study was to describe the distribution of cervical sagittal alignment parameters according to age and pelvic incidence in subjects with and without degenerative spinal deformity in order to precisely evaluate cervical compensation phenomena in adult spinal deformity (ASD). ⋯ III.

Trends in cervical laminoplasty and 30-day postoperative complications: 10-year results from a retrospective, multi-institutional study of 1095 patients.
This study aimed to investigate the recent 10-year trends in cervical laminoplasty and 30-day postoperative complications. ⋯ From 2008 to 2017, there were trends toward increasing age at surgery and surgeons' preference for refined open-door laminoplasty. The 30-day complication rate remained stable, but the C5 palsy rate halved.

C1 transpedicular screw (C1TS) placement provided satisfactory pullout resistance and 3D stability, but its application might be limited in patients with basilar invagination (BI) due to the high incidences of the atlas anomaly and vertebral artery (VA) variation. However, no study has explored the classifications of C1 posterior arch variations and investigated their indications and ideal insertion trajectories for C1TS in BI. ⋯ The incidence of posterior arch variation in BI patients without AO was remarkably higher than that in control patients. The insertion parameters of posterior screws were different between the morphological classification types in BI and control groups. The distance between VA V3 segments and VAG in BI cohort was substantially smaller than that in control cohort. Preoperative individual 3D computed tomography (CT), CT angiography and intraoperative navigation are recommended for BI patients receiving posterior screw placement.

We evaluated the long-term safety, mobility and complications of cervical total disc arthroplasty with the Baguera®C prosthesis over 10 years. ⋯ After 10 years, cervical arthroplasty with the Baguera®C prosthesis presents excellent safety and functional results and low complications. Motion was preserved in 86.6%, with a 7.4° ROM. Although common, HO did not hinder motion. Adjacent disc height preservation confirms some adjacent level degeneration protection.

To investigate the effect of postural changes on access for the OLIF of L2 to L5 in patients with degenerative lumbar scoliosis. ⋯ The right lateral recumbent position limits access to OLIF for degenerative lumbar scoliosis, and the "safety window" for OLIF operation in the parietal region is smaller in the left convex group compared to the left concave group, posing a higher risk of intraoperative vascular and neurological injury.
