Spinal arteriovenous fistulas (SAVF) was often neglected and misdiagnosed as acute transverse myelitis (ATM) due to its insidious onset and non-specific clinical symptoms. This study aims to investigate the differential diagnostic value of high-resolution T2-weighted volumetric sequence (3D sampling perfection with application-optimized contrasts using different flip-angle evolutions [SPACE]) in patients with SAVF and ATM. ⋯ The CEAC is a new and useful clue for the diagnosis of thoracolumbar SAVF. And T2-SPACE sequence can more intuitively observe the lesions of SAVF, has good differential diagnostic value for SAVF and ATM patients.

The diagnosis of STB is mainly based on clinicoradiological observations substantiated by bacterial culture, staining, Gene Xpert, and histopathology. The purpose of the study was to correlate these methods to evaluate the effectiveness in the diagnosis of STB. ⋯ No single diagnostic modality can ascertain the diagnosis, and it is desirable to have a combination of diagnostic batteries for better results. A combination of Gene Xpert and histopathology aids in early and reliable diagnosis of STB.

This study aimed to investigate whether short course of neoadjuvant denosumab treatment for spinal GCTB could (1) Induce radiological and histological response? (2) Facilitate en bloc resection? (3) Achieve satisfactory oncological and functional outcomes? ⋯ Short-term neoadjuvant denosumab could yield radiological and histological responses and might facilitate en bloc spondylectomy by hardening the tumor and causing less adhesion to segmental vessels, major vessels and nerve roots, which was beneficial to achieve the optimal oncological and functional outcomes.

(1) Identification of musculoskeletal risk factors for healthcare providers suffering low back pain (LBP) and the creation of risk profiles for those individuals and (2) analyze the impact of a workplace wellness program on healthcare providers who suffer from low back pain. ⋯ A high proportion of healthcare providers suffer from LBP as a result of the nature of their work. Disability and functional outcomes measurements and PROMIS results quantitatively assess healthcare providers with LBP. Organizations can develop injury mitigation programs to target employees at high risk of LBP using the risk factors we identify. Completion of the WWP was associated with improvements in disability, HRQOL and functional measures.

Impact of surgical treatment on lipid metabolism in patients with lumbar spinal disorders: Prospective observational study.
It is still unclear how lumbar spinal surgery affects the lipid metabolism of patients with lumbar spinal disorders (LSDs) such as lumbar spinal canal stenosis and lumbar disk herniation. The present study aimed to assess the impact of lumbar spinal surgery on lipid metabolism in patients with LSDs and clarify the factors associated with changes in visceral fat (VF) accumulation before and after lumbar spinal surgery. ⋯ The present study demonstrated that patients with LSDs did not necessarily improve their lipid metabolism after lumbar spinal surgery. Instead, female patients with LSDs had significantly deteriorated lipid metabolism after lumbar spinal surgery. Finally, a worse preoperative walking ability was associated with the improvement in excess VF accumulation after lumbar spinal surgery.
