Hybrid constructs with sublaminar bands have recently regained popularity as an alternative to all-screw construct for correction of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). The aim of this study is to evaluate the ability of hybrid constructs with sublaminar bands to achieve a tridimensional correction of the scoliotic deformity. Our hypothesis is that hybrid construct with sublaminar bands are able to achieve a substantial derotation of the apical vertebrae, while preserving the thoracic kyphosis. ⋯ Hybrid construct with sublaminar band have been showed to be safe and effective in deformity correction and in maintaining or restoring thoracic kyphosis. This study showed that with sublaminar bands applied at the curve apex a substantial derotation of the apical vertebrae can be achieved.

To evaluate the MRI findings of the craniocervical junction ligaments and compare the 2D TSE sequence and 3D SPACE sequence on cervical spine MRI. ⋯ The utilization of 3D sequences significantly improves the visibility of TL and could potentially reduce false-positive diagnoses of ligament injury.

To investigate the incidence and risk factors of lumbar plexus injury (LPI) after oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) surgery. ⋯ Narrow OLIF channel space and the anterior edge of left psoas major muscle overpassing the anterior edge of surgical IVD are significant risk factors of OLIF surgery-related LPI. Surgeons should use preoperative imaging to adequately assess these risk factors to reduce the occurrence of LPI.

The aim of our retrospective study is to analyze how spinopelvic dissociations (SPDs) were treated in a single center trying to better understand how to improve surgical and non-surgical options. ⋯ In patients with post-traumatic neurological deficit, decompression surgery and fracture reduction seem to be associated with clinical improvement; however, sexual disorders seem to be less responsive to the treatment. Some open stabilization techniques, such as the double iliac screw, could help in restoring the sagittal balance in case of severe deformities.

To determine if the planned sagittal profile for thoracic kyphosis (TK) restoration was achieved after adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) surgery using a novel hybrid construct with apical double bands and precontoured patient-specific rods (PSR) made according to the detailed surgical plan for the desired sagittal plane. ⋯ With sagittal plane planning, desired TK, improved reciprocal changes in LL, and minimal changes in rod shape can be achieved in patients with AIS.
