Review Meta Analysis
Mid- to long-term outcomes after cervical disc arthroplasty compared with anterior discectomy and fusion: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
To evaluate the mid- to long-term clinical outcomes after cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) as compared with anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for the treatment of symptomatic cervical disc disease. ⋯ CDA may result in better mid- to long-term functional recovery and a lower rate of subsequent surgical procedures than ACDF would. A review of the literature showed that only an insufficient number of studies had investigated adjacent segment disease; therefore, it is mandatory that adequate future research should focus in this direction.

Review Meta Analysis
Minimally invasive surgery for lumbar disc herniation: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Assessing the benefits of surgical treatments for sciatica is critical for clinical and policy decision-making. To compare minimally invasive (MI) and conventional microdiscectomy (MD) for patients with sciatica due to lumbar disc herniation. ⋯ There is moderate to low quality evidence of no differences in clinical outcomes between MI surgery and conventional microdiscectomy for patients with sciatica due to lumbar disc herniation. Studies comparing transforaminal MI with conventional surgery with sufficient sample size and methodological robustness are lacking.

Multifocal spinal malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor in an immunocompromised individual: case report and review of literature.
Primary intraosseous spinal malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is exceedingly rare. MPNST with multifocal origin has been described to occur in the extremities. Such a lesion has not been described to occur in the spine. We describe a case of multifocal spinal MPNST and to review the literature relevant to this rare entity and its management. ⋯ Multifocal spinal MPNST is a rare lesion. In this instance, the multifocality of the disease and its odd location could be attributed to the immunodeficiency state. The prolonged survival could be due to an improvement in his immune status due to HAART.

Review Case Reports
Hepatic myelopathy with spastic paraparesis: report of two cases and review of the literature.
The present report illustrates two men aged for 59 and 43 years, respectively, who presented with slowly progressive spastic paraparesis. ⋯ Hepatic myelopathy remains a default diagnosis assigned only after the exclusion of other causes of spastic paraparesis and partial transverse myelopathy. An accurate history, along with appropriate imaging and laboratory findings, is crucial.

Review Case Reports
Cervical dermal sinus complicated with intramedullary abscess in a child: case report and review of literature.
Dermal sinus tract (DST) is an uncommon spinal dysraphism presenting in childhood along the midline neuroaxis. Cervical DST less frequent is in association with intramedullary abscess. ⋯ Literature review confirms that an early diagnosis followed by prompt surgical spinal cord decompression gives a functional neurological recovery.
