The sacroiliac (SI) joint is recognized as a source of low back pain in 15-30% of patients. Though randomized controlled trials have shown clinical improvement following SI joint fusion in 83.1% of patients, revision rates of 2.9% within 2 years have been reported. There is a paucity of literature reviewing this small yet significant population of patients requiring revision surgery. ⋯ Our study demonstrates patients undergoing revision surgery have moderate improvement in low back pain, however, few have complete resolution of their symptoms. Specific patient factors, such as chronic opiate use and female sex may decrease the expected improvement in patient-reported outcomes following surgery. Failure to obtain relief may be due to incorrect indications, lack of biologic fusion and/or presence of co-pathologies. Further clinical examination and consistent long-term follow-up, clarify the role revision surgery plays in long-term patient outcomes.

To investigate the occurrence of altered central pain modulation in patients with degenerative lumbar diseases (DLDs) and to analyze its association with physical activity (PA) 3 years after lumbar decompression and fusion. ⋯ This study supports the existence of central sensitization (CS) caused by abnormal central pain modulation in DLDs. Pre-existing CS in these patients may be associated with low PA after lumbar surgeries, and this low-activity lifestyle may predispose patients to multiple adverse health outcomes. Preoperative dynamic quantitative sensory testing may provide information for the identification of at-risk patients.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of the severity of cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) on the incidence of arteriosclerosis in the carotid artery. ⋯ Patients with a larger cervical OPLL showed a higher frequency of intima-media thickening in the carotid artery.

In combined anterior-posterior adult spinal deformity surgery, the optimal combination of anterior and posterior procedures remains unclear. We aimed to demonstrate the radiological outcomes and relevant factors in oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF) for lumbosacral fractional curve (FC) correction combined with open posterior surgery in degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS). ⋯ OLIF at the FC combined with open posterior surgery is an effective combined anterior-posterior correction strategy in DLS.

Musculoskeletal disorders after childbirth are common, but current studies often have a narrow focus, concentrating on particular areas and neglecting a thorough evaluation of pain locations and overall severity. This research aimed to determine the occurrence, spread, severity, and root causes of musculoskeletal discomfort in females during the 6-8 week period after giving birth, focusing on investigating the link between pain and posture. ⋯ Many postpartum women experience moderate-intensity pain in various body regions. Pain's correlation with posture was limited. Reducing physical strain during infant care notably decreased postpartum pain, underscoring the need for holistic support for postpartum women.
