Abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) is associated with lower back pain, reduced bone mineral density of the spine. Vascular changes could also affect the already sparsely perfused intervertebral endplate and intervertebral disc. ⋯ This study demonstrates an independent association between AAC and endplate degeneration. These findings expand our knowledge about the degenerative cascade of the lumbar spine and suggest that AAC might be a modifiable risk factor for endplate changes.

This study aimed to evaluate whether adult spinal deformity patients undergoing revision for symptomatic pseudarthrosis have comparable two-year outcomes as patients who do not experience pseudarthrosis. ⋯ Patients undergoing revision for pseudarthrosis have comparable PROs and clinical outcomes as patients who never experienced pseudarthrosis. Recurrence of symptomatic pseudarthrosis was infrequent.

To investigate the effect of postural changes on access for the OLIF of L2 to L5 in patients with degenerative lumbar scoliosis. ⋯ The right lateral recumbent position limits access to OLIF for degenerative lumbar scoliosis, and the "safety window" for OLIF operation in the parietal region is smaller in the left convex group compared to the left concave group, posing a higher risk of intraoperative vascular and neurological injury.
