The Global Alignment and Proportion (GAP) score incorporates three domains directly modified with surgery (relative pelvic version-RPV, relative lumbar lordosis-RLL, lumbar distribution index-LDI) and one indirectly restored (relative spinopelvic alignment-RSA). We analyzed our surgical realignment performance and the consequences of domain-specific realignment failure on mechanical complications and PROMs. ⋯ RPV was the most underperformed modifiable parameter. Severe pelvic retroversion and severe positive malalignment influenced the occurrence of mechanical complications. Severe positive malalignment affected PROMs improvement.

To describe a novel surgical technique note coined as anterior cervical tunnectomy and fusion (ACTF) which applying on removal of posterior vertebral bony protrusions or soft extrusions. ⋯ The novel surgical technique coined by ACTF is a practicable approach during taking charge of bony and soft narrowing behind vertebral space.

To manufacture and test 3D printed novel design titanium spine rods with lower flexural modulus and stiffness compared to standard solid titanium rods for use in metastatic spine tumour surgery (MSTS) and osteoporosis. ⋯ By utilising novel design approach, we successfully generated a spine rod design portfolio with lower flexural modulus/stiffness profile and better CT/MR imaging compatibility for potential use in MSTS/other conditions such as osteoporosis. Thus, exploration of new rod designs in surgical application could enhance treatment outcome and improve quality of life for patients.

This study examines the test-retest reliability, the minimal clinically important difference (MCID), and its correlation with the Rolland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) of the Dubousset Functional Test (DFT) in evaluating the functional capacity and dynamic balance of patients with chronic non-specific low back pain (cnsLBP). ⋯ The DFT is reliable in evaluating patients' functional capacity and dynamic balance with cnsLBP without causing discomfort. It is simple, quick, and simultaneously assesses multiple areas contributing to spinal alignment, muscle integrity, and balance.

Treatment selection for idiopathic scoliosis is informed by the risk of curve progression. Previous models predicting curve progression lacked validation, did not include the full growth/severity spectrum or included treated patients. The objective was to develop and validate models to predict future curve angles using clinical data collected only at, or both at and prior to, an initial specialist consultation in idiopathic scoliosis. ⋯ The models can help clinicians predict how much curves would progress without treatment at future timepoints of their choice using simple variables. Predictions can inform treatment prescription or show families why no treatment is recommended. The nonlinear effects of time account for the rapid increase in curve angle at the beginning of growth and the slowed progression after maturity. These validated models predicted future Cobb angle with good accuracy in untreated idiopathic scoliosis over the full growth spectrum.
