Different techniques have been previously described to close the pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) site for correction of sagittal malalignment; the use of a side-to-side domino connector as a correction tool in the thoracic spine has not been specifically studied. ⋯ Use of a side-to-side domino connector in combination with two different rod cantilever techniques is effective for the reduction of thoracic pedicle subtraction osteotomy achieving satisfactory radiological and clinical outcome.

To develop ligamentous vertebral stabilization techniques ("vertebropexy") that can be used after microsurgical decompression (intact posterior structures) and midline decompression (removed posterior structures) and to elaborate their biomechanical characteristics. ⋯ Vertebropexy is a new concept of semi-rigid spinal stabilization based on ligamentous reinforcement of the spinal segment. It is able to reduce motion, especially in flexion-extension. Studies are needed to evaluate its clinical application.

Spinal metastasis surgeries carry substantial risk of complications. PRF is among complications that significantly increase mortality rate and length of hospital stay. The risk factor of PRF after spinal metastasis surgery has not been investigated. This study aims to identify the predictors of postoperative respiratory failure (PRF) and in-hospital death after spinal metastasis surgery. ⋯ PRFs and in-hospital death are not uncommon after spinal metastasis surgery. Predictive factors for PRFs included preoperative comorbidities, intraoperative massive blood loss, and postoperative complications. Identification of risk factors may help guide therapeutic decision-making and patient counseling.

Previous research has shown that many patients with musculoskeletal diseases suffer from sleep disturbances. However, the sleep quality of patients with cervical radiculopathy (CR) has yet to be fully investigated. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and status of sleep disturbances in patients with CR and identify the mechanisms and risk factors associated with this condition. ⋯ IV.

Delayed trunk and lower limb muscle activation is associated with balance loss and fall injuries in subjects with recurrent low back pain (LBP). ⋯ The LBP group demonstrated a delayed reaction time on the RA muscles, which indicated poor trunk control relative to the lower limbs. The delayed bilateral RA muscle might indicate possible coordination problems relative to the ES and lower limb muscles, which may lead to potential fall hazards.
